General Val Morando is a major antagonist of the Tales of Arcadia franchise, serving as an unseen antagonist of the first installment, Trollhunters, the main antagonist of its second installment, 3Below, and a posthumous antagonist of the third installment, Wizards, and the film finale, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans.
He was the General of the Taylon Phalanx who was exiled from Akiridion-5 for high treason against House Tarron, so he manipulated Varvatos Vex into lowering the shields after having the Zeron Brotherhood kill his family, thus becoming a dictator over the planet. After learning of Gaylen's Core, Morando pursues it to remake the universe as his own.
He was voiced by Alon Abutbul.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
Background[]
- He already tried to overthrow the Akiridion-5 monarchy once before, which is why he was exiled in the first place.
- He hired the Zeron Brotherhood to kill Varvatos Vex's family in order to manipulate him to betray the royal family, punishable by death itself, which is shown when he admits that he did so after Varvatos calls him out on it.
- He had the Zerons orchestrate a massive bombing that killed hundreds of innocent Akiridions in the processs, including Varvatos' family.
- He falsely promises Varvatos that if he lowers the shields, no one will be harmed. After Varvatos does so out of being blinded by his hatred for the Zeron Brotherhood, Morando breaks his promise when he takes over Akiridion-5 and has his soldiers shoot the King and Queen, putting them into stasis.
3 Below[]
- He kills off one of his soldiers by ripping out his life core and crushing it, simply for reporting bad news that he cannot pursue the Royals. This is also the Akiridion equivalent of having one's heart ripped out.
- Although he did give the King and Queen a chance to surrender, it is made very clear he wouldn't let them live and would have probably killed them right after that.
- He hires several bounty hunters to hunt down Aja and Krel, and give him their parents' life cores so he can crush them.
- He forces the Akiridions to worship him instead of having hope that the King and Queen will come back, which is shown since one of Morando's bodyguards lies that the King and Queen are dead, and orders an Akiridion child to worship Morando or be slaughtered, saying that there are no second warnings. After this, he declares that anyone who fights against him or refuses to worship him would be punish by martial law.
- He tortured Zadra when she was in recovery from her battle against him and threatened that if she didn't help him, he would kill her.
- He uses his first OMEN to fire at the robot factory, not caring if it could hurt or kill anyone.
- He speaks through his first OMEN and threatens the leader of the Zeron Brotherhood, the Zeron Alpha, that if the latter fails on his mission, he will suffer, and that the latter now answers to the OMEN.
- As Morgana creates the Eternal Night in planet Earth, Morando has the entire population of the planet Akiridion-5 watch Aja as she is cornered by the OMEN so the latter can brutally kill her, who has been programmed to hunt down Aja and her brother, Krel.
- He has more OMENs created to terrorize the citizens of Akiridion-5 to increase his tyranny over them.
- He forces a Resistance member to show him the legend of Seklos and Gaylen, learning about Gaylen's core in the process. He drops the Resistance member to his death after Loth Saborian tried to give him the secret truth and has Loth Saborian arrested after that.
- During an attack, he destroys 5 piloted rebel jets.
- He unleashes an asteroid the size of Ardadia-Oaks upon the town to distract the Tarrons from his arrival upon Earth. The asteroid would've destroyed the entire Western Seaboard and millions of lives along with it if it wasn't stopped.
- He releases Tronos Madu, one of his own bounty hunters, telling Kubritz that he should be the one to control him, not her. Following Tronos's release, Morando kills him simply because he failed him.
- He murders Stuart's pet, Buster, stating that he never liked bugs.
- He brutally shoots Varvatos during a duel with him, telling him that he will let him live long enough to see his new family die.
- He nearly kills the King and Queen by destroying their regeneration chambers, which resulted in the Mother Ship sacrificing herself to rebuilt it and save them.
- He betrays Kubritz by taking Gaylen's Core for himself instead of inserting it into her armor as promised.
- He is very aware of the damage Gaylen's core could cause, and plots to use it to destroy the universe and recreate it in his own image where everyone will be oppressed by him and live in total fear.
- He terrorizes Arcadia and murders Kubritz after she redeems herself, and destroys multiple piloted rebel jets, and tries to kill off the heroes one last time while boasting about himself having become a god, managing to shoot Varvatos to near death and causing the death of King Fialkov and Queen Coronda, who sacrificed their lives to power the cannon that ended his reign of terror, once and for all.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Tales of Arcadia Pure Evil to appear in only one installment, not to be of magical origins and to never interact with other Pure Evil.
