NOTE: This is only referring to the video game incarnation of General Korbut, as his Metro 2035 novel counterpart is not qualified as Pure Evil. Thereby, only information within his game incarnation will be included here.

Well, I'm overjoyed to meet you, comrade Artyom. I think we both have something to offer.
~ Korbut in his namesake level.
Whom do I see - the whole colonel Miller... forgive me, ALMOST!
~ Korbut's most famous quote in the Battle for D6 level.

Czeslav Andreyevich Korbut, also known as General Korbut, is the main antagonist of the 2013 video game Metro: Last Light.

Korbut is the corrupt, true leader of the far left, communist faction known as the Red Line in the Moscow Metro. He actively seeks to destroy his political rivals in the Moscow Metro including Hanza, Spartan Rangers, and the Fourth Reich, in an attempt to become the ruling force of the Metro and rule it for himself, with no regard to the lives he takes.

He is voiced by Andre Sogliuzzo, who portrays The Baron in Metro Exodus.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Korbut, in the past, orchestrated a plan to usurp the leadership of the Red Line by manipulating Maxim Moskvin into killing his brother Andrey Moskvin.
  • Korbut cares little for his subordinates, including Pavel Morozov, Lesnitsky, and the whole Red Line Army, as he sees them as nothing more than tools for his plans of conquest.
  • Korbut later unleashes the stolen bioweapon, which Lesnitsky stole from D6, into the innocent civilians of the Hanza-controlled Oktybrskaya station, killing them as he sees fit, where he sees it as a successful test for his next step in his genocidal plans: infecting the entire Moscow Metro and killing them in his hegemonic plans to conquer the Metro.
  • Manipulated Maxim into joining the Polis Peace Conference as a distraction, while actively searching for the bioweapon, in a last-ditch effort to destroy the Moscow Metro and its inhabitants as he sees fit, leading to the bloody Battle for D6.
  • He leads his army in a counteroffensive to eliminate the Spartan Rangers, and later became subsequently successful when he rammed the armored train into the faction, effectively killing most of the Rangers and severely injuring Artyom and Miller, with the latter who lost both of his legs.

Trivia[]

  • Korbut's game counterpart only counts as Pure Evil, as his novel counterpart, while making a mentioned appearance in 2035, lacks characterisation due to his relatively short appearance. At the same time his novel counterpart fails the heinous standard to Aleksei Bessolov.
