Gasparde (in Japanese: 将軍ガスパーデ, Shōgun Gasupāde) is an anime-only villain in the anime/manga One Piece. He is the main antagonist of the fourth One Piece animated movie Dead End Adventure. Gasparde is a former marine turned pirate which made him an enemy to the World Government.

He was voiced by late Tarō Ishida.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?

• He left the Marines to become a pirate, his reason for doing so wasn’t out of disillusionment or pursuing a dream or ambition, but rather out of sheer boredom openly admitting to hating the sea and the concept of dreams.
• As a pirate, he attacked several towns, slaughtering most of the citizens, among which was the town of Elena, leaving only three survivors. He took two of them, an old man named Biera and a young girl he orphaned named Adelle Bascùd to join his crew. Shuraiya Bascùd, Adelle's older brother, also managed to survive and became a bounty hunter in order to get revenge on Gasparde.
• When Biera got sick, Adelle begged Gasparde to help him, he only agreed to do so if she could kill a pirate with high bounty, knowing that she would get herself killed in doing so. This shows how he is willing to make false promises and letting a child risk their life.
• To elevate his boredom, he participated in a race for pirates known as the Dead End Race, using cheating and bribery to win many times. In the last race, he has the bookie rig the race in his favor by giving all the other contestants Log Poses that led them to a Marines Base, where many of them were sunk, and then betrayed the bookie by giving him a fake pose too, leading to his death as well.
• When Shuraiya Bascùd managed to join his crew, he makes an attempt to kill Gasparde but was severely injured in his fight against his right-hand man, Needless and was ineffective against Gasparde's Devil Fruit powers, allowing the pirate to beat him to near death. If not for Luffy’s arrival. he would have been killed.
• During his fight with Luffy, Gasparde damages Luffy's prized Straw Hat, knowing full well its sentimental value and connection to Shanks.
