At last... the time has come! I will be rid of this curse! I will sever the hateful chains of... this Triforce! I will kill the Hero once and for all! He will never be reborn and Hyrule will fall to ruin! With the flame of my hatred, I will steal everything and burn it to the ground!
~ Ganondorf beginning his invasion in "The Power of Shadow"
If it weren't for you...I would have already established my reign. I would have what I desired. My hatred towards you, the one who took everything from me...will not be satisfied by merely killing you once or twice. I must crush your bones...rip out your organs...and relish your lingering cries of pain.
~ Ganondorf when using Zelda to kill Link

Demon King Ganondorf is the main antagonist of the 2016 manga series, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, by Akira Himekawa, which serves as an adaptation of the 2006 video game of the same name.

A vicious conqueror and the wielder of the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf was banished to the Twilight Realm for his treacherous ambitions against the Kingdom of Hyrule.

Having gained memories of an alternate timeline where he ruled Hyrule but was overthrown by Link, as well as his fate in other timelines, Ganondorf swears vengeance against the Hero of Time and Hyrule. Ganondorf realizes that he, Link and Princess Zelda are forever interlocked in conflict and seeks to end it with him ruling over all. He is the benefactor of the Usurper King Zant. He noticeably has a more proactive role in the story than his video game counterpart.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • In an alternate timeline, he had laid a bloody coup that let him take over Hyrule and devastate it. Notable events of bloodshed include him murdering it's king and then setting the castle on fire while trampling upon the Sacred Realm. Ganondorf's victory was so bleak, even after the Hero of Time defeats him, Zelda rewinds time back to 7 years to have him captured early and banished to the Twilight Realm.
  • While this version of Ganondorf was imprisoned and prevented from going through with his plan by the heroes' use of time travel, it's clear that he would have carried it out if allowed.
  • Upon learning he has the Triforce of Power, Ganondorf whole heartedly embraces his evil ways as he believes the Gods have approved them due to his might.
  • Seduces the leacherous and ambitious Zant into becoming his emissary while Ganondorf remains imprisoned in the Twilight Realm, using him to enact a bloody campaign over the Twilight Realm that sees the annihilation of all the Elders and numerous others, while cursing it's ruler, Princess Midna, to be an imp.
  • Uses Zant to spread his dark magic across the Twilight Realm and Hyrule, turning countless humans, Hyrulian or Twili, into monsters, aware of their state as slaves to Zant or Ganondorf's will but cannot resist lest their individuality will be subverted further.
  • Unleashes his and Zant's army of monsters to destroy all life in Hyrule.
    • They destroyed many towns and villages, such as Anika's home village, with Kakariko Village and Ordon Village nearly being destroyed as well, while countless lives are lost. The Zora too had their Queen killed by the monster invasion and the rest of its population trapped under ice and slowly die.
  • Takes control of Zelda against her will to force her to attack Link, nearly cutting his throat open.
  • Ganondorf states his intention to use Zelda to inflict a tortuous death to Link, crushing his bones and ripping out his organs to relish in his screams of pain.
  • Attempts to merge both Hyrule and the Twilight Realm into one realm of hellish darkness, turning most life into monsters enslaved to his will and use them to wipe out all that remains of humanity on both sides.
  • When Midna teleports Zelda and Link away and attempts a last stand against him, Ganondorf kills the Twili and mocks her in front of Link. Midna is only revived later with the help of the Light Spirits.
  • When offered a chance to end the endless cycle him, Zelda and Link, as well as all their counterparts, are trapped in, and live in harmony, Ganondorf personally scoffs at the thought of him ever thinking of peace, and then kills himself by relinquishing his Triforce with the specific intention of his reincarnation bringing misery to Link, Zelda and all of Hyrule once more.
