| ~ Fusilli to Muriel and Eustace |
The Great Fusilli is the titular main antagonist of the Courage the Cowardly Dog episode of the same name.
He has a thick Italian accent (parodying other stereotypical magicians) and owns a traveling theater which he uses to search for potential "stars" to induct into his troupe, luring them in with the prospects of fame and fortune. Once his victims are snagged, Fusilli literally turns them into puppets that he can control via enchanted puppet strings, forcing them to perform on the stage for his own amusement.
He was voiced by Jim Cummings, who also voiced Dr. Robotnik in Sonic SatAM, Steele in Balto, Rasputin's singing voice in Anastasia, Jacques in Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, Scar's singing voice in The Lion King and Budzo in Zambezia.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He has lured multiple of his viewers onto his stage where he has them turned into puppets. This either kills them or leaves them in a fate worse than death where they can’t move, talk, or do absolutely anything, and he does this purely for his own entertainment. When Courage enters a room in Fusilli's place, he sees at least a dozen puppets, which shows that Fusilli has been doing this for a long time.
- He turned Muriel and Eustace into puppets by the end of the episode. This marks a moment where Eustace and Muriel die in an episode and are left dead by the end of it, though the show's negative continuity undoes the outcome in the next episode.
- Nevertheless, his other victims aren’t part of the show's negative continuity, making it too late to save them and the impact of his actions permanent.
- He cruelly made the Muriel and Eustace puppets bodies fight each other for his own amusement.
- While his defeat of being turned into a puppet and rephrasing “How now brown cow” is somehow comedic, it doesn’t detract too much since it’s played with bit of horror (considering it a fate worse than death, well-deserved though).
- Despite not being as heinous as Katz or the Black Puddle Queen in terms of kill counts, they have more resources than Fusilli. It also helps him that his crimes are unique even by the work standards.
- He also stands out for being the only one to succeed at killing both Eustace and Muriel, something that although the two above have attempted to, they’ve never succeeded.
Trivia[]
- There are many theories surrounding Fusilli due to Muriel and Eustace being left as puppets at the end of the episode (which emphasizes his Pure Evil status), as well as his episode being the last of Season 1. If confirmed, it would make him even worse:
- Muriel and Eustace actually never get revived and what happens in the rest of the franchise are actually Courage's dreams.
- This could also explain why Courage does not speak English as much as he does in Season 1.
- Because of Fusilli's (supposed) death, the magic would eventually break apart and all his victims would turn back to normal. However, while Muriel and Eustace would remain safe, all his other victims would die because they were hanged in the secret room.
- Muriel and Eustace actually never get revived and what happens in the rest of the franchise are actually Courage's dreams.
