~ Nitti taunts Elliot Ness about the killing of his friend Jimmy Malone moments before his death. |
Frank Nitti (born Francesco Raffaele Nitto) is the secondary antagonist of the 1987 crime film The Untouchables. He is the psychopathic right-hand and personal hitman for gangland boss Al Capone.
He was portrayed by the late Billy Drago.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He had no qualms about doing the things Al Capone wants him to do, no matter how horrible they are or how much collateral damage he causes independently from Capone.
- In his introduction, he blows up a restaurant with a time bomb, killing four people inside of it, including a little girl.
- Proceeds to threaten the lives of Eliot Ness' family to dissuade him from investigating Capone's mob activities.
- When Capone killed his traitorous enforcer, John Scalise at a dinner party by smashing his head with a baseball bat, he keep his face calm, not because he's afraid of Capone, but because of how cold-blooded he is.
- He disguises himself as a policeman and assassinates Capone's former bookkeeper, George, on Capone's orders. He also murders Oscar Wallace and two other policemen, then writes "TOUCHABLE" on a wall with Wallace's blood simply to mock Elliot Ness and his team of "The Untouchables".
- Guns down Jimmy Malone at his home with a Thompson machine gun and leaves him to slowly bleed to death.
- When Ness learned that Nitti was the one who killed Malone after escorting him out of Capone's trial, Nitti promptly shot a bailiff before attempting to flee from the courthouse. He then guns down two more civilians simply for being in his way at the wrong place at the wrong time.
- When Ness finally caught up with him, Nitti attempted to goad Ness into killing him. Ness refused at first until Nitti started to brag about Malone's death, mockingly stating that Malone died "screaming like a stuck Irish pig" and how he would elude justice for his murder.
- Despite working for Al Capone, he has only a professional relationship with him, and there is no proof that he genuinely cares about him.
