It's time to end this little masquerade. There ain't no "Atlas", kid. Never was. Fella in my line of work takes on a variety of aliases. Hell, once, I was even a Chinaman for six months. But you've been a sport, so I guess I owe you a little honesty: The name's Frank Fontaine... I gotta say, I had a lotta business partners in my life, but you... 'Course, the fact that you were genetically conditioned to bark like a cocker spaniel when I said "Would you kindly", might have had something to do with it, but still. Now as that machine finishes processing the genetic key you just fished off Ryan, I'm gonna run Rapture, tits to toes. You been a pal, but you know what they say: never mix business with friendship. Thanks for everything, kid. Don't forget to say "hi" to Ryan for me.
~ Frank Fontaine reveals himself to Jack.
Would you kindly?
~ Frank Fontaine's catchphrase as Atlas.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Founded Fontaine Futuristics and Fontaine Fisheries, which appeared to be homes for the poor but in reality were fronts for smuggling rings and horrific experiments, which included getting subjects addicted to ADAM and turning them into splicers.
  • Along with Yi Suchong, he experimented on and tortured little girls and turned them into little sisters.
  • Learned how to do a transorbital lobotomy from J.S Steinman.
  • Faked his death and reemerged as Atlas, which makes him a criminal disguised as a social activist.
  • While as Atlas he instigated a civil war that killed countless people.
  • Tortured Elizabeth to find the ace in the hole and then tortured a little girl when she wouldn't cooperate.
  • He killed Elizabeth when she did what he wanted.
  • Experimented on Andrew Ryan's illegitimate son Jack to make him his servant with "Would You Kindly".
  • He crashed a plane full of innocent people just to get Jack into Rapture.
  • Tried to convince Jack to harvest a little sister, which Jack can determinedly do.
  • Manipulated Jack into killing Andrew Ryan.
  • Tried to kill Jack once he had outlived his usefulness and, during the final fight, was even willing to endanger and sacrifice his own lackeys while hurling plasmids at him.
  • His actions drove Andrew Ryan to become a paranoid tyrant.
  • At the end of the day, Fontaine is ultimately responsible for the downfall of Rapture, as his conquest for power led him everywhere, from his plasmid business getting thousands of people killed to killing Andrew Ryan just so he could take over Rapture.
