Evil Ash: Semantics... Either way, we'll all be pleased to see you... Dead.
Ash: Oh yeah right, you think those things will make you some sort of god once I'm gone? I got two words for you pal: you're crazy.
Evil Ash: Not crazy. Just bad.
~ Evil Ash in Hail to the King.

Evil Ash is the secondary antagonist of the Evil Dead franchise. He serves as a minor antagonist in Evil Dead II and Ash vs Evil Dead, and the main antagonist of the third film Army of Darkness and the 2000 survival horror game Evil Dead: Hail to the King. He is also a playable character in the asymmetric multiplayer game Evil Dead: The Game.

He is an demonic doppelganger of Ash Williams who emerged from the depths of darkness with an insidious purpose. In the ancient year of 1300 AD, this sinister replica rallied an army of malevolent beings, known as Deadites, to wage a ruthless siege on Castle Kandar. Their paramount objective was to seize hold of an invaluable artifact, the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis. However, despite his wicked intentions, the clone was ultimately vanquished by his virtuous counterpart, Ash Williams, who was often referred to as the "goody little two-shoes." It is essential to note that this clone is not merely an illusion or a figment of Ash's imagination; rather, it is the embodiment of his darkest inclinations, given physical form by the dreaded Kandarian Demon.

Just like his original counterpart, he was portrayed by Bruce Campbell, who also played Alex Windham in Assault on Dome 4 and Carl Grieg in Icebreaker.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He tries to subjugate humanity to turn Earth into a world of Deadites, whether through resurrecting his army of darkness in Egypt or allying with Dracula to kill his good counterpart.
  • Trying to retrieve the Necromonicon, the Deadite's ultimate source of power, in order to unleash the Deadites upon the world.
  • He kidnapped Ash's lover Sheila and raped her while having other women violated by his minions as well.
  • In the comics, he committed many heinous crimes, such as:
    • Evil Dead: When he's finally released by Evil Sheila, he declares himself Evil Ash Prime and proceeds to take over the world, leaving most of it a barren wasteland ruled by the dead. Having killed and enslaved everyone he could before mutating the remaining survivors, Evil Ash spends most of his days raping every woman he can find, not even his supposed "queen" immune to him.
    • Ash in Space: After being resurrected as Robo-Ash, he intends to broadcast the Deadite influence to every satellite and screen in the world, resulting in mass insanity and carnage across the globe as families tear each other apart and people slaughter each other en masse until the the entire planet is a Deadite paradise.
  • In the video game Hail to the King, he disguised himself as Father Allard and tricked Ash into doing dirty work for him, before teleporting back to the ancient Damascus to create a cult and sacrifice Ash's new girlfriend to the Dark Ones, while being rewarded with godhood.
  • Although he had some funny moments, such as his first few moments after splitting from Ash, he is still taken seriously for the majority of his crimes.
