Eric Sacks is the secondary antagonist of the 2014 superhero film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
He is the accomplice and adoptive son of the notorious crime lord, the Shredder, working with him for many years on a plan to take over New York City and gain more wealth. He created a flesh-eating toxin that he and Shredder would plan on using on the city and sell the antidote to the world governments after the city was theirs.
He was played by William Fichtner, who also played Butch Cavendish in The Lone Ranger.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Even years before the events of the movie, he had been supporting and funding the Shredder and the Foot Clan's acts of terrorism, making him responsible for a majority of the Foot Clan's crimes and indirectly lead to the deaths of several dozen people.
- He and Shredder created a flesh-eating virus that they planned to use on New York City, intending to infect thousands, if not, millions of innocent people and let them succumb to the brutal disease. He only intended to sell the Mutagen to the governments as an antidote for the sake of power and money, wanting to rule over New York as a god.
- After learning that Dr. O'Neil had found out about his sinister plans and destroyed his lab, he killed him and left April fatherless.
- He used one of the Foot Clan ninjas as an example to the Turtles of what the virus he had created would end up doing to anyone who got infected by it, having Karai and two other Foot Clan ninjas hold him and expose him to the virus, giving him seemingly a slow yet painful death as he began to melt.
- He drained the Mutagen from the Turtles' blood, not caring that this would more likely than not result their deaths.
- When April and Vern came to stop Sacks in his tower, he mocked April by admitting he did kill her father in a rather gleeful manner. To make matters worse, Sacks had also lost his father at a young age, yet he had no problem with making others live with the same tragedy, showing how truly sociopathic Sacks is.
- While this was due to being adopted by Shedder, however there is no indication if he was really abused or might be straight made up.
- Despite he was raised by Shredder and works with him on the overall plan, there is nothing to indicate that he is truly loyal to him. Given general callous nature of Sacks, it is likely that their relationship is built on professionalism and personal gain.
- This is also show that his relationship was merely partner than family.
- Overall, Sacks is a greedy and power-hungry individual who will be willing to kill anyone for the sole sake of power and money, wanting to be "stupid rich".
Trivia[]
- The filmmakers behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) originally intended for the Shredder to actually be Erick Sacks, but this concept was scrapped in the middle of filming due to feelings that they should have instead an authentical Japanese actor play the character, leading to Tohoru Masamune's casting. Had the original plan been kept and William Fichtner had played the Shredder too, Erick Sacks and the Shredder would have been just a single Pure Evil character.
