Empress Sedessa Graleon is the main antagonist of the 2008 computer-animated film Delgo. She is the treacherous sister of King Zahn, the ruler of the Nohrin, fairy-like creatures, Kyla's aunt and Delgo's arch-nemesis.
She was voiced by the late Anne Bancroft in her final film role.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She developed a hatred for the Lokni after they barred more Nohrin from entering, so she amassed some followers to massacre the Lokni, orphaning the film's titular protagonist in the process. This resulted in a massive war that led to the death of many a young soldier
- When called out on this action by Zahn, she did not even pretend to feel anything resembling remorse but dismissed the Lokni as savages, which, because the Lokni were clearly a peaceful people willing to let in outsiders and barred more Nohrin only because there wasn't enough room for more, is not justified at all.
- After he disowned her for her cruelty and unrepentance, she sneaked into Zahn's residence and poisoned his wife. She would have done the same to Zahn himself if his daughter, Kyla, hadn't woken him up with her sobs.
- Fifteen years later, she becomes the leader of the Ardo, but shows no gratitude to the leaders for assisting her (like building a castle). Instead, she lures them into a trap with false promises of land, title, and riches and has her engineer, Prando, lower the leaders into a cloud of gas, which kills them.
- When they interrupt her during a meal, she threatens her goons, Spig and Spog, with either the rack or "sharp, pointy things".
- She tells her second-in-command, Raius, to capture Kyla, and when he tells her the potential consequences, she taunts him about "taking his wings".
- She blames the Lokni for Kyla's capture, resulting in Zahn declaring another war.
- To spite her brother, she organizes a public gathering and tries to have Prando split Kyla's wings apart.
- Upon being stopped, she sends her troops to Jhamora to kill more innocent lives, with General Bogardus being one of the casualties.
- She kidnaps Zahn and mocks him for wanting piece as she takes the throne.
- She tries to kill Zahn and has Delgo brutalized by a guard when he comes to help Zahn.
- Not even her pet, Pookie, is safe from her wrath, as she orders him executed for failure, even saying that she should have stuffed him when she had the chance.
- She shows Delgo no gratitude for saving her and tries to kill him when she has the chance.
- Though her actions are motivated mostly by the Lokni's refusal to let more Nohrin into Jhamora, she takes her revenge too far. She's not above putting her own kind in danger just to meet her goals.
- Despite her respect for him (even getting affectionate in one scene), she neither has any qualms with Raius suffering the same fate that she did nor shows any concern over his "death".
