~ The Emperor of the Night

The Emperor of the Night is the titular main antagonist of the 1987 animated fantasy film Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night, which serves as "thinly-veiled" sequel to the 1940 Disney classic animated film Pinocchio.

He is the powerful dark lord of the secret evil kingdom known as the Empire of the Night, a dimension full of illusions and nightmares. Wishing to turn people into his puppets in his plot to invade and rule the world, the Emperor orders his henchman Puppetino to lure children with his traveling carnival, leading Pinocchio to come across his Empire.

He was voiced by James Earl Jones, who also played Thulsa Doom in Conan the Barbarian, Ommadon in The Flight of Dragons and a disguised Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Turns countless people, including children and animals, into puppets against their will.
  • Plans to collect enough souls to weaken the Blue Fairy and kill her so he can take over the world.
  • Threatens to kill Geppetto trapped within a jewel box if Pinocchio refuses to surrender his humanity.
  • Orders Puppetino to throw Geppetto and Pinocchio into a dungeon despite accepting his demands.
  • Kills Puppetino by turning him into a puppet when he tried to escape, leaving him to die in the fire.
  • Attempts to kill Geppetto to make Pinnochio pay for destroying his ship.

Trivia[]

  • The Emperor of the Night is, alongside the Podestà, one of the two Pinocchio Pure Evils to be an original character who didn't originate from the original The Adventures of Pinocchio novel.
