This article is for a character that is approved as a Silly Pure Evil example, meaning they are a character that fits the criteria for Pure Evil while being consistently played for laughs.

Very well, we won't invade Earth. We'll destroy Earth instead!
~ Ping the Pitiless to Launchpad.
Pluto? I hate dogs! Somebody get me out of here!
~ Ping the Pitiless' last known words as he gets what's coming to him.

Emperor Ping the Pitiless is the main antagonist of the 1987 DuckTales episode "The Right Duck". He is the egotist ruler of Mars who attempted to destroy the Earth when Launchpad accidentally landed on his palace, causing a space device to steal his belongings.

He was voiced by Ronnie Schell.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He is a tyrant who ruled mars with an iron fist abusing from his position while sending people to jail or killing his servants out of petty reasions.
    • Sometime prior to the events of the episode, he imprisoned his own mother just because he caught her jaywalking, showing that he doesn't care for his family and is willing to use his law against them like everyone else.
    • When a nobleman gives him jewels, he sends him to his death in hands of his carnivorous monsters just because he finds a crack in one of the jewels, which is actually a hair. While he says a brief apology after he notices this, judging by his tone, he's laughing at his own miscarriage rather than feeling genuine remorse.
  • When Launchpad and Doofus accidentally arrives to his palace with a DASA exploration device that starts to take everything in his room, he decides to conquer the Earth to steal their belongings as payment, when Launchpad says that in Eath they are really poor and that this is the reason why they were stealing, he instead decides to destroy the Earth. Then he arrests Launchpad and Doofus even though they are not to blame for what happened because of the space device.
    • While he is naturally furious about DASA wanting to steal his possessions and kidnapping his subjects (just because they serve as pawns for him) only to get evidence about live in Mars, this is not only remotely far to serve as a excuse for his revenge, since the vast mayority of the people he wants to kill have nothing to do with this incident, but he latter appears to have forgotten this incident but he still wants to see the Earth destroyed out of sadism.
  • When Launchpad and Doofus escapes from their cell and get into the rocket that is about to destroy the Earth, he decides to leave them since he loves unhappy endings, and although things are going as he wants, he still kills the guard that gives him the bad news on a whim.
  • His attempted mundicide causes panic all over the globe because the Earthlings know the danger that is coming and are worried and desperate as they see their lives in danger.
  • While he likes to feed his carnivorous monsters and are his only afilliates that he is not shown mistreating, nothing implies that he cares for them rather than using them as weapons. Futhermore, he mainly likes to feed them to see them killing people alive.
  • Although he is constantly played for laughs by the narrative, having an incredibly comedic and hammy performance, him killing his servants while they fall with a squash and stretch gag and his absurd defeat when the space device shows up from nowhere, taking him while flying to Pluto and him saying "Pluto? I hate dogs! Somebody get me out of here!", everyone in-universe takes him very seriously due to the threat he poses, as his subjects are afraid of his cruelty and in the end they show and inmense but justified hate towards him, including his own mother, while the Earthlings are concerned about his rocket that is about to end their lifes. Futhermore, his inprisonment and exile, besides comedid, is mainly played for karma for his crimes.
  • Despite appearing only in one episode, Emperor Ping the Pitiless stands out for having the highest attempted kill count in the original DuckTales, since the destruction of the Earth would have caused the death of billions of lives, only being comparable to The Golden Goose, who attempted to spread the Golden Death across the world turning every single living thing in lifeless gold statues, and although the fate of the victins of the latter seems to be worse, while The Golden Goose is just a non-sapient animal that only did it because of it natural instincts, Emperor Ping the Pitiless also stands out for his cruelty, being fully aware about the consequences of his actions but still going ahead for his own sadism.

Trivia[]

  • He is the only DuckTales Pure Evil to come from the original 1987 series.
  • He's similar to General Lunaris from Ducktales Reboot, who attempted to destroy the Earth aswell.
