Emperor Palpatine is the main antagonist of What if Order 66 Failed?, which is a fanfic by the popular Star Wars YouTube channel, Star Wars Theory.
In this retelling of Revenge of the Sith, much like his original counterpart, Palpatine would have Anakin Skywalker join his side toward the end of the Clone Wars and have the clones execute Order 66 in an attempt to wipe out the Jedi Order. However, in a change of fate, Order 66 would end up backfiring and instead, result in Palpatine's ultimate defeat.
He is voiced by Star Wars Theory himself.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Given the entire fact the video acts as an alternate resolution to Revenge of the Sith and the Skywalker Saga in general, it is more likely than not that Palpatine's actions during the prequels and Clone Wars remain canon to the story, not to mention some of his past actions are referenced throughout the fanfic.
- He manipulates Anakin Skywalker to his side, turning him into the Sith Lord, Darth Vader.
- To make this even worse, unlike canon or Legends, Anakin never returns to the Light, basically meaning Palpatine had forever turned Vader to a slave to the Dark Side.
- He, alongside his new apprentice, would kill Mace Windu when he came to arrest him for his crimes.
- He orders Vader to go to the Jedi Temple with an army of clones and has him kill countless Jedi there, whether that be skilled Jedi Masters or younglings.
- He has the clones execute Order 66 in an attempt to wipe out the Jedi, making the clones turn on their former comrades. While Palpatine's attempt to wipe out the Jedi may not have been as successful as it was in canon, many Jedi did still perish at the hands of either the clones or Darth Vader.
- To make matters worse, the result of the Order 66 failing would leave many clones dead, making Palpatine indirectly responsible for not just their betrayal but their deaths.
- When Yoda, Aayla Secura, Cin Drallig, and Ki-Adi-Mundi would come to confront him, Palpatine would taunt Yoda about it was foolish to come stop him before brutally killing both Secura and Drallig, impaling the former and decapitating the latter.
- During his final duel with Yoda and Mundi, Palpatine makes an attempt to kill Mundi before trying to kill Yoda, thinking it'd make things easier for him since the weaker of his opponents was out of the way.
