There's always some unhappy corner of the globe where we can apply our trade.
~ Emil Fouchon to his potential client.
Was it worth it?
~ Emil Fouchon asking his client after the successful hunt.
Whoops.
~ Emil's final word before his death.

Emil Fouchon is the main antagonist in the 1993 film Hard Target. He is a wealthy sportsman who organizes hunting event for rich clients to hunt homeless former soldiers as a hobby.

He was portrayed by Lance Henriksen, who also played Tomás de Torquemada in The Pit and the Pendulum.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Alongside his right-hand man Pik Van Cleef, the two of them are wealthy elitists who hunt the most dangerous game -- meaning that they hunt down human beings for sport, in this case homeless veterans, since they provide more of a challenge than most, while also getting paid for other elitists to partake in the hunts -- with Fouchon being the ringleader and Van Cleef being his second-in-command.
  • Starting the movie by hunting their newest prey, Douglas Binder, chasing him while he has belt of cash, but not wanting him to win, they pursue him, and are able to kill him, while Fouchon and their client chat over it, and they stage his death as an accident.
  • But things start to get shaky for them, as Douglas had a daughter named Natasha, who along with protagonist Chance Boudreaux, investigate his disappearance and murder. Their search leads them to Randal Poe, and employee of Fouchon's. Pik watches their conversation with glee, while Randall is too afraid to say anything, and Pik later informs Fouchon of Randall's mistake of picking someone with a family (for because that leads to the family asking questions), and the two of them torture Randall, with Pik cutting his ear off, and threatening to "cut [him] a steak" if Randall fails again.
  • They decide to cover their tracks, first by killing a doctor that they bribed to falsify evidence for them, and them sending a couple of thugs to rough up Chance, with the hope of scaring him off.
  • They are met by another wealthy client, while they explain their business, and how they have conducted hunts all over the world.
  • They find another veteran to run for them named Elijah Roper, and hunt him later that night.
  • While they chase him, Roper is able to get the upper hand on the wealthy Client, and shoot him, to which an annoyed Fouchon then kills his client, and continues to hunt Roper, with he and Pik catching up to him, and Pik unloading his silenced submachine gun onto roper in a crowd full of people at nighttime.
  • After learning that Randall was interrogated by Chance again, they decide to kill him, with Pik taking the time to toy with Randall, reacting cheerfully as the man cries before blasting his head off with a shotgun, before Chance, Natasha and a female police officer can intercept him, while Pik and some of his soldiers get into a shootout with them, killing the police officer, and then making pursuit of Chance. Chance and Natasha are able to shake them off in the Cajun jungle, where they meet up with Chance's Uncle Douvee.
  • They pursue Chance in the Jungle, with Pik even shooting at Chance while the latter is on horseback, but Chance, Natasha and Douvee are able to use the terrain to their advantage, first by having a snake bite one of Fouchon's soldiers, Pik grabs the snake holds the snake out while an irritated Fouchon blasts the snake's head off, and crushes the bitten man's throat, while complaining that his men should "die quieter". Another trap is set, with Chance and Douvee lighting several of Fouchon's men on fire, and Fouchon irritably shooting one of them.
  • Fouchon, Van Cleef and their party track the trio down to a warehouse, with Fouchon seemingly killing Douvee by stabbing him with an arrow, while Chance slowly picks off their soldiers, and is eventually able to kill Pik.
  • Fouchon is outraged by his best man's death, and takes Natasha hostage. Chance and Fouchon fight each other, with Chance killing Fouchon with a grenade. Douvee is still alive, as Fouchon actually stabbed his flask, and they return home.
