Edwin Fuarson is the overarching antagonist of the 2023 Sonic.EXE horror game, Miles.EPS, as well as the main antagonist of it's prequel, Buried Fortitude.
He is the abusive father of Blair who used to be a former SEGA employee, before being fired for allegedly breaking a prototype copy of Sonic & Knuckles. Prior to this, using his status as a very-well paid employee, he hides the truth behind the actions he has committed to his young child, Blair Fuarson, denying the fact he had caused any harm to them, while letting Blair starve, as the town believe him. He eventually kills Blair when they were about to call the police to expose his real intentions, setting the events of the storyline into motion.
Biography[]
This section is too long to describe. Please go to Edwin Fuarson's page on the Villains Fanon Wiki for more information.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He abused Blair ever since their birth in 1979, first calling them a "mistake of nature" and a "freak", which would later foreshadow the severe abuse he would give to them in 1987.
- After divorcing his wife, he took custody of Blair (who was only 8 years old at the time) and abused them both verbally and physically even more for seven years, later leading to their murder in 1994.
- He uses his status as a very well paid SEGA employee to deny the fact that he caused any harm to Blair, not caring about their starvation, which is just a huge excuse to have the town treat him like royalty and get away with his crimes with the town believing in him, causing Blair to become depressed and scared when they see that the town doesn't know about his hidden true nature.
- After being fired from SEGA for allegedly "breaking a prototype of Sonic 3 & Knuckles" (revealed to have actually stolen a copy of it), he murdered Blair before they were able to call the police to expose him for the abuse he had done to them, harvesting parts of Blair's soul in order to achieve immortality so he can never receive any punishment for his actions. These pieces of Blair's soul were the final steps after Edwin's constant research into said immortality.
- The abuse he inflicts to Blair is the driving force behind the entire storyline of Miles.EPS, as the spirit of Blair, now donning the form of Miles.EPS, tormented the player. However, they was revealed to be misguided as their goal was to kill the characters in-game, so they could be free from several decades of suffering they went through by their father.
- At the end of the game, when confronting Miles.EPS, Edwin threatens to rip the player's spine off and drive it through their neck if they don't leave the game, where Blair saves them before he could strike. At this point, Edwin (falsely) attempts to reason with Blair, promising to treat them well in the future, but, knowing his true colors, they refused his mercy, which is justifiable considering the fact that Edwin was simply doing this as an excuse so he can continue abusing Blair even longer, therefore making him irredeemable.
- If the player achieves the Bad Ending by not finding the 5 Easter Eggs scattered around the levels and having all the characters survive prior to the final level, Edwin would kill the player, making them another one of countless victims Edwin murdered before his death at Blair's hands.
Trivia[]
- He is one of the many Sonic.EXE characters to be Pure Evil, alongside Sonic.EXE himself, as well as the only Miles.EPS Pure Evil.
- Despite only appearing at the very end of the game, the bad and worst endings or flashbacks, Edwin is the one who caused Blair's death, leading to the events of the game, where Blair manifested themselves as Miles.eps after possessing the cartridge Edwin stole, therefore making Edwin the overarching antagonist for most of the game, as well as the true main antagonist of the game as a whole, after Miles.eps was revealed to be Blair.
- Edwin's whole character and overarching narrative was designed specifically so that players would hate him. Specifically, hating Edwin as a person rather than hating the way he was written.
- The Easter eggs were placed by Blair, as they knew Edwin would be smart enough to find them all, therefore confirming it would be him playing the cartridge. However, Blair would still check to see who was playing if the Easter eggs weren't found, but quickly regressing back into hiding after noticing Edwin was murdering the real player.
- Edwin originally shared the same whispering voice as Miles.eps, only pitched down with added chorus. However, this changed during development thanks to tucann's friend Celeste (previously known as and credited as FreakyFruit), who was also one of the 4 playtesters for the game. She offered to lend her voice for Edwin which allowed him to stand out more.
- Edwin is essentially the complete opposite of Blair in terms of personality, motives, character development, etc.
- The worst ending, despite having Edwin appear on the player's desktop background with a unique image compared to the bad ending (representing him killing the player), is not canon due to Dark Super Sonic killing Miles.eps and by extension, Blair.
- Edwin's purple eyes were inspired by William Afton, also known as the purple guy, from the Five Nights at Freddy's series. The series was also the inspiration for Blair possessing the copy of Sonic 3 and Knuckles.
- Despite the aforementioned inspiration, the creator (tucann) has mentioned the similarities to the Needlem0use series. Although he thought about it during development, the possession things were not inspired from Needlem0use. Despite this, not many people actually draw comparisons between them.
