Edgar Fromware is a minor antagonist of the Japanese light novel series The Beast Tamer Who Was Exiled from His Party Meets a Cat Girl From the Strongest Race. He is an enemy and the self-proclaimed love rival of the series' protagonist, Rein Shroud for his attempt to steal two of Rein's companions Sora and Luna. He is also the archenemy of Nina (a demi-human from the God Tribe) second archnemesis of Sora and Luna (the first being was the Shadow Knight).
He was the tyrannical mayor of Horizon and the son of the tyrant lord of Horizon. Until he and his father were overthrown by Rein Shroud and his companions.
He was voiced by Tomohito Takatsuka in Japanese and by Matthew Elkins in the English dub.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Due to being the mayor and son of the tyrannical Lord of Horizon, Edgar took this to mean he could do whatever he wanted. As a result, he is one of the most reviled citizens of the village (along with his father and Arios Orlando).
- He serially kidnaps several women (human or demi-human alike) in Horizon or from another village including those who were already married.
- However, he seems to prioritize subjecting them to pain (physically, psychologically and sexually) rather than sexually taking advantage of them aside from coercing them to come with him due to his modus operandi. This was until during his downfall, his slaves were liberated and escaped due to Rein Shroud freeing the kidnapped women but they have suffered mentally abuse from Edgar according to the men who are relative to the women.
- Corrupting King Argus Van Rollreeze's knights of abandoning their justice and doing Edgar's dirty works as well provide him protection making him as a coward. He doesn't care about any of the knights (including Captain Jill Stregger) as they were just disposable pawns to him. However, he didn't managed to corrupt Vice-Captain Stella Enplace and the female knights due to their hatred towards him of his arrogance.
- Tries to make Sora and Luna into his slaves.
- Attempted threatened Rein to hand over both Sora and Luna or he will kill the citizens but only for Edgar's knights to be overpowered by Rein and scared off Edgar.
- His M.O.: force a woman he fancies to come with him. If not, he has his knights take many villagers hostage and threatens to have them executed. He is indiscriminate as he forces Nina, a fox spirit, into allowing herself to be enslaved by threatening to kill children.
- He puts an enchanted collar on Nina which shocks her every so often. He has her as his personal stress toy which he tortures and beats daily to get off on his perverse urges. This was until Rein overwritten the collar and removed it from Nina's neck.
- Teams up with Arios Orlando (the series' main villain and the archnemesis of Rein Shroud) to kill Rein.
- When he tries to use the ring the "Hero" grants him, he succeeds at striking Rein, but he is left perfectly unharmed as the Death Scythe didn't do anything on Rein at all, due to the several contracts he had made with an ultimate species of unlocking a new skill known as the Abnormal Stats Nullification (which hold complete immunity to all status condition threats), meaning that the Death Magic is now totally useless on Rein.
- After his presumably death, Arios doesn't even care about Edgar because he is nothing more than a pawn to him.
- Edgar doesn't hold a love or close bond with his father, the formerly (tyrannical) Lord of Horizon as Edgar is willing to abandon his own father to be arrested in his futile attempt to escape.
- The manga adaptation strongly suggests that he rapes the women that he beats after kidnapping them.
- With the manga adaptation seeming to present the demon and Edgar as the same, he tries to wipe out the town by going after the citizens.
