~ Eddie's famous quote. |
Edward "Eddie" Kim is the main antagonist of the 2006 action/horror movie Snakes on A Plane.
He is a vicious international criminal who is intent on maintaining his reputation, which includes killing witnesses by any means necessary. He is also the one who put the snakes on the Flight 121, making him responsible for the events of the movie. His actions make him stand out in this otherwise not too serious work.
He was portrayed by Byron Lawson.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Brutally and fatally beat U.S. prosecutor Daniel Hayes so he wouldn't arrest him, leaving a son and wife behind.
- Takes sadistic pleasure in what he does, calling them "accidents".
- Smuggled a large number of venomous snakes onto a plane and laced the lei necklaces with pheromones, so the snakes would go crazy, just to kill Sean Jones, the man who witnessed his crime, which also resulted in other passengers, a flight attendant and dog, getting killed by the snakes.
- He didn't even care about the fact that there might be children on the plane as well, proving that was perfectly okay for him that even children be killed in order for him to achieve his goal.
- His actions indeed indirectly caused a boy to be bitten by a venomous snake in his hand, resulting in it being severely deformed.
Trivia[]
- Despite the heinous crimes committed, Eddie Kim has far little screentime throughout the movie. Because of his long, cooling off period, this doesn't make him anywhere redeemable despite not being a threat through the entirety of the movie.
- He might have managed to get a redcuced prison sentence or acquitted if the only crime they could definitively pin on him was the murder Sean witnessed, but by unleashing the snakes, he starts a chain of events that gives the FBI everything they need to charge him with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder and have him tried for a death sentence.
- Because of this, his final fate was never revealed, though it might imply that he'll have faced the death penalty and be executed for his crimes, either via gas chamber or Lethal Injection.
