Clemens: I don't fear you.
Dracula:
You will.
~ Clemens and Dracula.

Vlad III Drăculea, mainly known as Dracula, is the main antagonist of the 2023 supernatural-horror film The Last Voyage of the Demeter, based on "The Captain's Log" chapter of Bram Stoker's 1897 horror novel Dracula.

He was the former prince of Wallacia who became a powerful vampire who ruled over Transylvania, feasting himself with the blood of the living, getting blood slaves, and creating other vampires, until he decided to expand his hunting ground by traveling to London on the ship, The Demeter. There, he picks off the crew one by one until there is no one left.

He was voiced by Javier Botet, who also portrayed The Crooked Man in The Conjuring 2, The Leper in the 2017 adaption of IT, and KeyFace in Insidious: The Last Key.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He terrorizes his victims before he brutally kills them, even deriving a sadistic pleasure in doing so.
  • He preyed on the villagers of Transylvania, killing them one by one for food and to spread the story about him so that no one would challenge him. He would also rule over them from his castle by keeping them afraid.
  • Accepted brides/blood slaves from the village elders, including a reluctant woman named Anna, to feed off of in order to stop killing innocent villagers. He would then bite Anna from time to time in order to keep himself fed without completely exhausting her.
    • Even though Anna was shown to be the only blood slave, she mentioned that the village elder made bargains with him for other blood slaves. In a deleted scene, Clemens and Anna discovered two deceased female villagers in a wooden completely exhausted of their blood showing that can sometimes kill blood slaves and would demand more.
  • Decided to expand his hunting grounds by traveling to London where he would kill English citizens by night and rule from the shadows.
  • Forces Romanian locals to transport him, his blood slave Anna, and the soil of Transylvania in large wooden boxes to the port of Varna, Bulgaria.
  • Hired Captain Elliot and The Demeter crew to transport him and his private cargo by sea to London without any stops for £800, even though he only hired them to be his meal on the way to London and had no intention of paying them.
  • Eats all the rats and the livestock on The Demeter, including the ship's dog Huckleberry. He also makes the crew believe that they died of rabies, forcing the crew to toss them all overboard, in the process severely reducing their food supply to critical levels for the remainder of the voyage.
  • Stalks and whispers to The Demeter crew, Clemens, and Anna making them paranoid and insane before he starts killing them one by one.
  • Lures out Petrofsky by making him think he is another sick stowaway and then tears open his throat and eats from it, while he is still alive before breaking his neck. He then drags Petrofsky's corpse to a hidden area after he hears Clemens on the deck where he proceeds to eat the rest of him.
  • He kills Toby, a child, rather brutally at that..not just that, he also allows Toby to turn and burn in the sun, causing him even more misery and pain before being put down by the further traumatized crew.
  • Tries to kill Clemens in their final confrontation, when Clemens stood up to him exclaiming he did not fear him, he sadistically said he would before being caught by the ship's mast.
  • His actions led to Anna succumbing to vampirism and burning up in the sunlight after saving Clemens, leaving him heartbroken.
  • At the end of the film, he disguises himself and begins continuing his reign in London, with Clemens vowing to kill him at all costs, leaving it unknown if he faced any consequences for his heinous actions.
