Dr. Who is the main antagonist of the 1967 Kaiju film King Kong Escapes.
He was portrayed by the late Hideyo Amamoto, and voiced by the late Paul Frees in the English dub.
What Makes him Pure Evil?[]
- Carl Nelson describes him as a "International Judas", Who even admits later on that the UN always connects him to crimes, implying that he's already a notorious criminal before the events of the movie.
- He tried to mine Element X and sell it to Madame Piranha's country, which she later admits is "nothing to be proud of" so this could have put the entire world in danger. He later admits Element X can kill millions, revealing he doesn't care about the potential danger.
- He also says to Piranha "The world will be ours", and Mechani Kong will "crush the world", devastate the world's finances and can conquer the human race, which could imply he was planning on betraying her and her country in order to take over the world for himself.
- When Mechani Kong short circuits due to Element X's radiation he decides to kidnap King Kong for the task instead, even worse he admits that Kong won't resist the radiation forever.
- When he does kidnap Kong he knocks him out with sleeping gas and just as he's about to leave with the ape a Native comes out only to warn him, and Dr. Who without hesitation shoots the man three times in cold blood, and given how the Native died when Carl Nelson and his crew came back he most likely had a slow painful death. The worst part is Dr. Who didn't even need to do this, the Native was powerless to stop him and his men, so he only shot him for the shake of a power move and sadism. The sadism aspect of this murder is clear on the fact that he shot him 3 times and he didn't even order one of his men to do it, he did it all on his own, even the goon he was with looked shocked at this. To further emphasise his callousness when Carl Nelson and his crew found the Native they tried to see if he could be saved and when he died Carl ordered his men to give the Native a proper burial which contrasts them from Who as people who actually have respect for others.
- Once Kong is at his base he has him chained up and later hypnotised to make him dig for Element X.
- He has Carl Nelson, Susan Watson and Jiro Numura kidnapped in order to force them to help command Kong do his bidding, during this period he:
- Locks them in a cell.
- Tries to freeze Jiro and Susan in their cell to get Carl to cooperate, and when Carl rightfully tries to attack him the goons hold Carl back and Who elbows him in the chest, another indicator of his sadism.
- He lies to Jiro and Susan that Carl is dead to manipulate them into believing they have nothing left to live for and claims if they help him he'll let them go and pay them for it which is most likely another lie. He even continues to lie by saying he doesn't want to use force and ultimately threatens to kill them.
- When Susan and Jiro refuse he has Jiro chained up and threatens to cut Susan's face on the icy wall himself, only stopping when he hears Kong shaking the bars to his cell.
- Despite Madame Piranha telling him their plan is pointless he insists on continuing, saying they'll use Susan to control Kong and has her, Carl and Jiro chained up in his ship.
- He sends Mechani Kong into Tokyo to capture Kong and he willingly ignores Piranha saying doing so would endanger thousands of people, which is proven to be true when the robot later smashes through a building. He even asks her "When did you get the sudden sense of morality?" showing he's aware of how vile he is.
- On his orders Mechani Kong fights Kong, hurting the ape by blinding him with his high beam eye lights and punching him.
- He orders Mechani Kong to kidnap Susan and climb up Tokyo Tower where speaking through the robot's loud speakers tells Kong to go to his ship or Susan will be dropped to her death. While Susan is saved the fight between Kong and Mechani Kong still puts her in danger.
- When Madame Piranha rightfully tried to stop him he starts a fight with her, painfully twisting and hitting her arm, knocking her into a coach and shooting her in the arm. The fact that he didn't kill her right way and had his goons watch her could indicate he was going to keep her prisoner and later use her for a nefarious purpose.
- When Madame Piranha rightfully damaged Mechani Kong's remote controls he shoots her twice in cold blood. He may not have even needed to do this as one of goons was in process of restraining Piranha, yet he told him to let her go showcasing he wanted to kill Piranha and how sadistic he is.
- He tries to evade justice by attempting to flee from Tokyo in his ship, and when one of his henchmen asks about capturing Kong he calls him an idiot.
