“ | Trinh: Spencer wanted a predator on the island, to test you all. Weed out the weak. That predator was me. Liv: You're f*cking proud of yourself? Vincent: So the game was bullsh*t? Trinh: Not at all! The game was Spencer's, and the punishments were mine. He said I could do whatever my heart desired, as long as I left one heir standing. |

Dr. Persephone Trinh, also known as The Gentleman is the main antagonist in the fourth season of the horror anthology series Slasher, titled Flesh and Blood. She is an end-of-life specialist with a notable love for bloodlust and slaughter, traits that caused her to commit several malpractices on her career. She was blackmailed by millionaire Spencer Galloway and hired to kill every member of his family who lost a game on which his fortune was on play, hiding her identity with a disguise of the family ghost, "The Gentleman".
To hide her identity as The Gentleman, she wears a modified Venetian Bauta mask, a black top hat, and a black balaclava underneath. She also wears a black frock coat, a black puff tie, a black velvet vest accompanied by a silver pocket chain, a white high-collar dress shirt, black dress trousers, black zip-up boots, black ruched leather gloves, and a leather belt.
She was portrayed by Jeananne Goossen. In-costume scenes as The Gentleman were portrayed by Sebastian Buitrago.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- Explicitly sadistic, Trinh feels sexual enjoyment in ending lives. She used her postion as an end-of-life specialist to please these urges.
- It is heavily presumed that she switched the drugs used in her assisted suicides for other ones that caused more pain. This resulted in many malpractice sues surrounding her career.
- Spencer tested her by sending her to murder his son-in-law, an artist named Reycraft. Trinh crushed his head with an industrial machine that he was using for an art piece, looking with sadistic glee at what she did and even playing with his bashed brain, sexually moaning as she was doing so.
- Followed Spencer's deal out of her own volition just because she found it amusing. She didn't care about being blackmailed and money was just a bonus for her.
- Betrayed Spencer, who wanted an assisted suicide and go with a painless death. She switched his drugs with molecular acid that were sent directly to his heart, painfully killing him.
- Killed other people that had nothing to do with Spencer's games just because she found them as "juicy opportunities". Merle, who was just a sailor hired by Spencer to take his family to his island, was hooked through the mouth and gutted alive. Birgit was Spencer's personal servant and wasn't participating, but that didn't stop Trinh from kidnapping her and burying her alive.
- Despite coming from a series that is known for its brutal killings, and having the lowest bodycount in the series, Trinh is oftenly considered the most cruel and torturous villain in the show, easily surpassing the standards.
- All the examples that made this character earn that status are:
- Needlessly dragging out Merle's death by hooking him through the mouth to the ceiling, leaving him hanging while he is choking with his blood, and then using a big knife to gut him.
- Ripping off Jayden's limbs one by one, and then forcing his family (including his mother) to watch.
- While Seamus' death was rather quick (since he catched Trinh in a rush), she compensated this issue by mutilating his corpse and crucifying it in a wall for his wife and kid to see.
- Tying up Aphra to two trees and slowly sawing her in half. It does help that Aphra was drugged for the start of this procedure, until the pain made her react. The reaction is unpleasant and hard to watch.
- Pouring red-hot molten gold in Grace's face, making her to swallow it in the process. This kill is reminiscent to Xander's death in the previous season Solstice, which used boiling water instead. This one was made much worse and painful, surprising many fans about the Gentleman's cruelty.
- All the examples that made this character earn that status are:
- Even if some of her victims were not sympathetic and had a well-deserving end, it runs moots as she wasn't doing it out of vigilantism, but just because she liked to do it.
- Unlike the other killers of the show, Trinh is not motivated by vengeance, obsession or twisted morals, but instead she is driven out of sadistic pleasure, being a very unique villain in the show. She is also devoid of any sympathetic traits that made the other killers more understandable.
Trivia[]
- She is currently the only PE in Slasher, due to the lack of redeeming traits (that makes some of the most heinous villains in the show not to count, like Spencer and Chief Vaughn) and having surpassed the heinous standards (that makes Wyatt not to count).
- Despite being considered the most torturous killer amongst the fanbase and having some of the most cruel deaths in the entire series, the prize for the most horrid kill still belongs to Kaili's vivisection, applied by The Druid in previous season Solstice.
