~ Cornelius Evazan antagonizing Luke Skywalker; his most famous quote. |
Doctor Cornelius Evazan, also known as Roofoo, Doctor Death or simply The Doctor, is a minor antagonist in the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
He is a notorious outlaw and sociopath active during the Galactic Civil War. Evazan considered himself a skilled surgeon, even though his patients were often maimed or killed after botched "operations". By the time of the Battle of Yavin, his activities had earned him a death sentence in at least twelve systems.
He was portrayed by the late Alfie Curtis.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Though mentally ill, Cornelius Evazan has a clear understanding of morality and tries to get away with his crimes.
- Killed numerous people for assassination jobs.
- Constantly did horrific surgeries numerous times on unwilling kidnapped patients, torturing them and scarring them for the rest of their lives, seeing them as nothing more than "experiments" for his quest for immortality.
- He does not care for Ponda Baba, seeing him as a tool to further help him with his goals. He abused his partnership with Ponda Baba many times and they eventually had a falling out permanently, become sworn enemies.
- Betrayed Ponda Baba by switching his brain with a captured senators body, briefly killing Baba before leaving him behind.
- Had a fight with Luke Skywalker, intending to hurt the young man before Obi-Wan Kenobi intervened and sliced Evazan across the chest. Evazan deserved it for how sadistic he was.
- His actions are so vile that even the Galactic Empire sees him as a sick, twisted man.
- In fact, his crimes earned him a death sentence on 12 star systems, which is saying something when compared to most outlaws of the galaxy far, far away.
- Mutilated bodies, both living and dead, all just to further experiment on how to make himself immortal.
- Captured living and dead bodies, injecting a serum in them that mutilated them and turned them into zombies, before unleashing them on Necropolis, killing millions of people and transforming them into zombies, all for Evazan's own amusement.
- Despite the high Heinous Standards of Star Wars, Evazan has low resources and unique vile crimes that make him stand out even if he isn't a Force user like the worst of the Sith.
Trivia[]
- His canon version is not considered Pure Evil, as he has a genuine friendship for Ponda Baba. He is less heinous than his Legends version, but still did horrific crimes, such as making cyborgs to lose free will.
