The train is coming with its shiny cars. With comfy seats and wheels of stars. So hush my little ones, have no fear. The man in the moon is the engineer.
~ The Dollmaker after Bumby's true colors are revealed - also his most famous line.

I could've made you into a tasty bit. Clients out the door waiting for a piece from a raving delusional beauty, with no memory of the past, or no sense of the future. But you wouldn't forget; you insisted on holding on to your fantasies. You're mad. Like your sister. Your sister was a tease. Pretended to despise me. She got what she wanted...in the end.
~ Dr. Bumby mocking Alice's past traumas while showing absolutely no remorse for his vile actions.
Remaking children. Build them up, tear them down, refashion them; teach them the new; forget the old.
~ Dr. Bumby's disturbing reasoning for why he does, what he does.

Dr. Angus Bumby, also known as the Dollmaker in his Wonderland form, is the main antagonist of the American McGee's Alice video game series. He is the overarching antagonist of the 2000 dark fantasy action-adventure game American McGee's Alice the main antagonist of its 2011 horror action-adventure sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, and a minor antagonist in the 2015 horror web series Alice: Otherlands.

He is a psychiatrist and secret child sex trafficker, as well as both the killer of Alice Liddell's family and the creator of the Ruin mastermind behind the [Infernal Train, Wonderland's corruption, and Alice's insanity, thus making him her true archenemy.

He was voiced by Alistair McGowan, who also voiced the Black Hiver in The Nightmare Before Christmas Who: Skellington's Revenge.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

As Bumby[]

  • He continually sexually harassed Alice Liddell's older sister Lizzie, even though she kept telling him to stop. While he was patient with her at first, he eventually decides to force himself on Lizzie, and ultimately decided that if he couldn't have her, then nobody could. He eventually raped and murdered her in the night.
    • To cover up his crime, he set the Liddells' house on fire and burned Alice's parents alive, with Alice herself being the only survivor. This traumatized her and caused her to go insane and end up in a mental asylum. American McGee's Alice shows the extreme mental damage he had caused.
  • Following the murders, Bumby began brainwashing children into allowing themselves to be molested by London's pedophiles. He sold them in exchange for a certain amount of money. While he claims that he was doing a favor to the community, he is not open about it, and his actions were essentially corrupting the community.
  • After Alice left the asylum, Bumby volunteered to be her psychiatrist. In truth, not only was he trying to erase Alice's memories to avoid being sent to prison for his crimes (assuming he wouldn't be hung for them), he was also trying to turn Alice into a prostitute who would most likely allow men to do whatever they wanted to her.
  • His actions led to Alice going insane, which causes countless people in Wonderland to suffer and die.
  • Despite everything he did to ensure that the truth was never revealed, Bumby acted as his actions were acceptable when Alice learned of them. He claimed that Lizzie was playing hard to get, that he was providing a service to the community (even though his actions were most likely making London far worse, as he was encouraging criminals to engage in horrific behavior) and that Alice would be better off as a prostitute.
  • His death by being pushed into an incoming train by Alice was well-deserved for his horrific crimes.
  • He's ultimately responsible for almost every bad thing that happens to Wonderland in the games, as it's a reflection of Alice's tortured mind, and he's the one who drove her insane in the first place.

As the Dollmaker[]

  • His Wonderland counterpart the Dollmaker wishes nothing more than to destroy Wonderland utterly. He also collects insane children and turns them into dolls as his name would imply, similar to the actions of his London counterpart.
  • In the final boss battle, the Dollmaker makes perverted and inappropriate hand gestures towards Alice.
  • He's a Bad Boss, as during the final boss battle he summons minions to attack Alice, but doesn't care at all if his attacks end up destroying his own followers.
