Don Corneo is a supporting antagonist from Final Fantasy VII Remake. He is the a mafia crime lord and the ruler of Wall Market. He enjoys selecting women as nightly "brides".
He was voiced by Yohei Tadano in Japanese and Fred Tatasciore in English, who also voiced Sweet Tooth in Twisted Metal: Head-On, Ultron in Avengers Assemble, Malthus in The Conjuring franchise, Mephistopheles in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the High Override in the Ben 10 reboot, the Mad-Man in Primal and Megatron in Cybertron games.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Every night, he has his men traffic women to him to be his nightly brides and blackmail them into having sex with him. After having his fun with them, he would feed them to his pet monster, Abzu.
- This included Leslie's Fiance, causing him to become obsessed with getting revenge on Corneo.
- He allows his men to rape the woman that do not get chosen to be his bride.
- He takes advantage of people in financial debt by agreeing to pay off the debts in return for the participating in Shinra's experiments which are lethal making him responsible for the deaths of many innocent people including Bill and Chloe's parents causing them to become orphans.
- He helped Shinra track Avalanche and was full complicit in their plan to destory Sector 7 and kill thousands of people all so he could have a new Wall Market in Neo Midgar.
- When Cloud kicked him when he tried to assault him he attempted to have his mean beat him to "teach the bitch some manners"
- When Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith attempted to leave the manor to warn people about Sector 7 he dropped them in the sewers to try and prevent them from stopping the plate fall.
- While claiming he would have given Leslie his own place to run in the new Wall Market given what he did to his Fiance this is unlikely to be genuine and attempted to kill him without any remorse.
- He attempted to take over the Gold Saucer and turn it into Corneoland to resume his criminal activities.
- He is abusive to his own monsters to the point that his Catcaurs turn on him and even Abzu (his "favorite" pet) is not spared from abuse as he beats him to get him angry in battle.
- While he has some comedic moments like the scene of Cloud and co threatning to rip off his balls and his defeat at the hands of Kid G, it does not detract from his villainy as he is treated as a genuine threat and his horrid crimes are never played for laughs.
Trivia[]
- He is considered to be more evil in Remake due to his increased characterization and due to committing more heinous crimes, as well as more focus on the heinousness of them, such as Cloud in-universe described him as "pathetic" and a "depraved bastard".
- He is very similar to Jabba the Hutt from Star Wars as both as both are crime lords who desire beautiful women as slaves and feed them and their enemies to their pet monsters. However, while Jabba who genuinely cares for his son, Don Corneo has no redeeming qualities, and because of that, as well as the higher heinous standards of Star Wars compared to Final Fantasy VII, Don Corneo is qualifies as Pure Evil, while Jabba does not.
- He is shown to be hated several of his own men, such as Leslie Kyle.
