NOTE: This article is about the Amazing Spider-Man script version of Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2, as his final script version is not a Pure Evil, and thus, only the Amazing Spider-Man script version of Doctor Octopus' info and crimes should be put here. |
“ | You're a fool, just like your parents! There was no double agent, no Black Hand other than mine, on the handle of the gun that killed them. And now that you've given me what they would not, you can die like they did. | „ |
~ Otto Octavius revealing his true nature to Peter Parker while also revealing he murdered his parents before trying to kill him. |
“ | But I, I am knowledge itself! To try to stop me is to try to stop the sun from rising! I am Galileo! I am Da Vinci! I am Thomas Edison! | „ |
~ Otto Octavius, now known as "Doctor Octopus" declaring himself to be a powerful being while trying to kill Spider-Man. |
Otto Octavius, later known as Doctor Octopus, is the main antagonist of the film script Amazing Spider-Man, an earlier version of what would become Spider-Man 2.
He was a scientist who became a dangerous super villain and the second archenemy of Spider-Man. Unlike his incarnation in Spider-Man 2, this one has no sympathetic, amoral or redeemable qualities and turned into an omnicidal psychopathic mad scientist willing to destroy countries around the world for profit and ego.
Like his final script version, he was intended to be portrayed by Alfred Molina, who also played Maxim Horvath in The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Ke-Pa in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the On Her Majesty's Secret Service radio drama adaptation, Destiny in Justice League Dark and Mictlan in Maya and the Three.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Unlike his finished film counterpart, he isn't controlled by the AI of his mechanical arms and is fully aware that what he is doing is wrong, meaning he has a clear moral agency.
- He murdered Peter Parker's parents in cold blood for hiding the image refractor from him so as to prevent the completion of his dangerous fusion machine.
- Manipulated Peter Parker/Spider-Man for his own goals and tries to kill him after handing the refractor to him.
- Killed a doctor that was trying to save his life.
- Rampages through the streets, injuring or killing tons of people by flinging cars into crowds of people, smashing cops into the ground, or flicking away civilians like bugs.
- Uses a cop and Mary Jane Watson as human shields against Spider-Man.
- Spitefully tries to kill Captain George Stacy and a child and succeeds in killing the captain though the child was saved, merely giving a sadistic smile.
- Teams up with another criminal called the Foreign Man and reveals he intends to use his invention as a mass destruction device against other countries and even America itself.
- Hijacks Harry's wedding and attacks everyone there, using a waitress and Harry's wife to be as hostages and injuring Curt Connors by destroying his arm.
- Tries to send two workers falling to their deaths by destroying a construction site girder to give himself an advantage against Spider-Man.
- Tries to brutally murder Spider-Man for foiling his plans.
- He cowardly begged to be spared while being electrocuted to death despite all the evil he had done-which Spider-Man did so he would be arrested as he knew killing was wrong.
