~ Doc Scratch stating that he never lies.

~ Doc Scratch's last words.

Doc Scratch is the main antagonist of the Homestuck franchise. He's the first guardian of Alternia and the right-hand man of Lord English.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

Overall[]

  • Every possible moral agency issue he might have becomes null when it's considered that he's nigh-omniscient, and thus knows perfectly the difference between good and evil, but still chooses to do evil.
  • While he refuses to lie, he doesn't do so out of honor but simply because he's very self-assured and believes himself superior. In fact, while he never technically lies, he still is a big manipulator.
  • His loyalty towards his master comes off more as fanaticism than genuine care.
    • It's also possible that he's serving Lord English because he sees himself as an extension of him due to having been created from Lil Cal, the puppet possessed by English.
  • Although he has some few comedic moments like when Andrew Hussie aggrivies him in a cartoonish way, none of them detract from his villany.

Homestuck[]

  • He abusively raises the Handmaid to have her manipulate the trolls' history so that the entire species would become violent and aggressive.
    • It's also implied that he has manipulated the trolls' cruel empress, the Condesce, during her reign.
  • He manipulates Vriska into killing Aradia and paralyzing Tavros in order to kick-start the events that would lead to his own creation.
  • He sets up the destruction of the entire trollkind through Gl'bgolyb.
  • When he discovers that Vriska has one of his magic cue balls, he has the cue ball explode, which takes away Vriska's left eye and arm.
  • He tricks Rose into creating the Green Sun, which results in the destruction of two entire universes.
    • He was also planning to have Rose die in the process.
  • He brutally beats up Spades Slick when the latter damages his clock and then has him kill Snowman, which is an even that contributes to the end of the universe.
  • He tries to kill the other protagonists by informing them of a way to essentially reboot their universe, which would have wiped them from existence.
  • Ultimately, he sets up everything to ensure Lord English's arrival, going as far as becoming the latter's host body.

Hiveswap Friendsim[]

  • While it's ambiguous if the game is canon to Homestuck, the webcomic does seem to be canon to the game since it ends with Doc Scratch telling the player to read it, so (assuming the game considers the webcomic canon) Scratch here is responsible for the same crimes he's in canon.
  • He's revealed to be the one to have given the MSPA Reader their need for friendship, and after removing it, they feel confused, lonely and terrified.
  • He's revealed to be the indirect cause of Fozzer having his personality changed completely, and he clearly doesn't care about that, even stating that the troll's mind is likely irreparably damaged.
  • It's implied that he made the MSPA Reader's friends forget about them, and the Reader themselves almost forgets their own friends.

The Homestuck Epilogues and Homestuck: Beyond Canon[]

  • Regardless of whether The Homestuck Epilogues and Homestuck: Beyond Canon are canon to Homestuck, it's obvious that the latter is canon to the former two since they serve as sequels to it, meaning that Doc Scratch here is responsible for the same crimes he's in canon.
  • While not directly appearing and never being even mentioned, it's implied that (alongside Lord English) he became part of Ultimate Dirk (and likely is one of the main reasons of the latter being villainous), making him indirectly responsible for many of the events happening after his own death.
