~ Eckhart's last words prior to her death. |
Dietlinde Eckhart is the main antagonist of the 2005 anime fantasy film Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, the sequel and conclusion to the first anime adaptation of Fullmetal Alchemist.
She is the leader of the Thule Society, who aims to reach into the world of "Shamballa" (her name for Amestris, Edward and Alphonse Elric's reality). With access to its "magic" (alchemy), Eckhart believes she can use the powers of "Shamballa" to aid in the successful takeover of the Nazi Party.
She is voiced by Kazuko Katou in the Japanese version, and by Kelly Manison in the English version.
What Makes Her Pure Evil?[]
- She is a power-hungry tyrant who wanted the power of Shamballa to restore Germany and has no problem of waging a war, killing several people, and even sacrificing her soldiers.
- When Eckhart was first introduced, she seemed soft-spoken and well-intentioned in supporting the Nazis, but to clear up any confusion, she was helping them aid Hitler in the uprising. However, it turns out she wanted to control her country and achieve victory through greatness if it meant overthrowing Hitler, thereby proving her disloyalty. In other words, she had no genuine affection for anyone; she didn't even express sadness for her first group of soldiers when they perished while crossing the Gate or show concern for them.
- While her death was brutal, it was not played for sympathy and completely deserved.
