Daryl is a minor antagonist in the 2016 manga series Moriarty the Patriot and its 2020 anime adaptation. He serves as the secondary antagonist in The Man with the Golden Army arc. He was once part of Sebastian Moran's troop before it was revealed that he was the traitor responsible for getting his squad killed and was the right-hand man of Graham Dunderdale.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He assisted Graham Dunderdale on his agenda to prolong the war between Afghanistan and the Indian Empire of Britain by selling out troops and, at best, orchestrating their deaths in the long run. His later actions would cause the death of Gillian Harris, an MI5 agent, on the battlefield.
  • It is indicated that Daryl is the one who oversees the manufacturing of replicated Russian guns and smuggled them to the Afghan army, aiding them while making it believe Russia is supporting them.
  • He orchestrated the deaths of the Bengal Engineer Corps and the troops of Sebastian Moran by selling them out to the Afghan soldiers. This would cause the brutal deaths of Zach and Randy, as well as Sebastian losing his right hand and seeking vengeance for his comrades' deaths.
  • Before betraying his troops, he decapitated Derek while he left his guard down and tossed his hand in front of Sebastian and the rest.
  • On Dunderdale's behalf, he set up explosives beneath the building to assassinate the new Afghan King and the party-goers, hundreds of them, in an attempt to prolong the war for the worse. The king and the party-goers, however, evacuated later on, thanks to Miss Moneypenny.
  • He took Miss Moneypenny hostage, beat her, and tried to make Sebastian kill her to test his 'loyalty' in joining his and Dunderdale's "cause," which he did. Although it would be revealed that Sebastian used blanks to fake her death later on.
  • When backed into a corner once Sebastian made him shoot himself to prove his dedication to Dunderdale's "cause," he shoots Sebastian instead out of pettiness, unaware he used blanks at him.
  • Although he is partners with Graham Dunderdale and is devoted to his every command, his loyalty comes off as that of a zealous sycophant who views the latter as the "true patriot" rather than out of any courtesy of genuine loyalty.
  • Despite saying his actions were for the sake of avoiding any casualties on Britain's side and achieving 'world peace'. Sebastian made it clear that his intentions are nothing more than bigoted delusions of "playing God," who sees Britain as superior rather than doing so for the sake of their people. It doesn't help that Daryl outright admitted that he is "evil incarnate" throughout his boasting his actions.
