I am Entropy. I am Death. I am... Darkseid.
~ Darkseid after arriving on Earth.

Uxas, also better known as Darkseid, is the main antagonist of the DC Animated Movie Universe and the overarching antagonist of the Tomorrowverse.

He served as the main antagonist of Justice League: War and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, the unseen overarching antagonist of The Death of Superman, the overarching antagonist of Reign of the Supermen, and the posthumous overarching antagonist of the Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths trilogy.

He is a "New God" and the leader of Apokolips who seeks to rule the entire universe and destroy the Justice League. Darkseid becomes mainly Superman's archnemesis due to his attempts to kill him and conquer the Earth by transforming Hank Henshaw into Cyborg Superman, later actually succeeding at ravaging the Earth and wiping out most of the Justice League and their allies.

In Justice League: War, he was voiced by Steve Blum, who also voiced Vilgax and Zs'Skayr in the Ben 10 franchise, Ares in the God of War video games, the Green Goblin in The Spectacular Spider-Man, Starscream in Transformers Prime, Red Skull in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Loki Master in Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, Sauron in the Middle-earth: Shadow video games and Jindiao in Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny. In Reign of the Supermen and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, he was voiced by Tony Todd, who also played Captain Darrow in The Rock, Benjamin Juma in the 24 franchise, The Fallen in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Zoom in The Flash TV series, and William in Tales from the Hood 3.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

Justice League: War[]

  • Has conquered and massacred the population on countless worlds.
  • Invaded Earth.
  • Kidnapped and tortured Superman.
  • Broke Green Lantern's arm.
  • Bombed multiple cities on Earth before being driven back.

Death of Superman/Reign of Superman[]

  • Sent Doomsday to Earth, who caused a lot of destruction and death before killing Superman.
  • Horrifyingly mutilated aliens and humans into more Parademons.
  • He caused mass destruction on Earth, killing a lot of people.
  • Was responsible for the death of Terri and Hank Henshaw, resurrected the latter and corrupted him into Cyborg Superman in an attempt to obliterate Metropolis and conquer Earth.
  • Betrayed Henshaw that he would destroy Superman instead of letting Henshaw do it.
  • He sends his minions into space with the intent of having them terrorize and invade other worlds so that he can eventually take over the universe.
  • He gets enraged when his servants do not do what he says like when Henshaw closed the Boom-Tube as he ripped out the implant in his head.

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War[]

  • He and his army of Paradooms killed most of the Justice League.
    • He then tortured the survivors by:
      • Lacing Superman's body with liquid Kryptonite to leave him in a de-powered state and emotionally tortured him as he helplessly watches the Earth fall to Darkseid.
      • Torturing Batman by strapping him to a Mobius chair and brainwashing him into becoming his general.
      • Forcing the Flash to endlessly run on a treadmill to serve as a power generator.
      • Brainwashing Cyborg into becoming subservient and forcing him to subjugate into Apokolips itself.
      • Mutilating and brainwashing Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman, Mera, and later Starfire (after the Paradooms' invasion on Earth killing the Teen Titans) to become his Furies while equipping their torn bodies with cybernetic parts.
  • Conquered Earth.
  • His actions would drive Raven to attempting suicide, and she would've had not Superman helped her.
  • Ordered the deployment of three Reapers on Earth, massive drilling machines designed to harvest the Earth's core.
  • Single-handedly massacred the Green Lantern Corps and obliterated the planet Oa by teleporting a portion of Earth's magma at the planet.
  • Had a brainwashed Batman kill numerous people and then ordered him to murder his own son Damain Wayne.
  • When Batman defied his brainwashing and refused to kill his own son, Darkseid attempted to kill Batman with his Omega Beams but wound up killing Damian instead as he took the blast and was rather happy with the results. Damian would have stayed dead had it not been for Raven reviving him.
  • After Superman regained his powers and attacked him, Darkseid mocked Superman over the death of Lois Lane.
  • Even after being defeated and banished by Cyborg, Darkseid's Reapers harvested too much of the Earth's core, causing the planet to become unstable and and is now doomed to inevitable destruction. As Batman pointed out: Even if the damage could be minimized, it would still lead to the deaths of a billion people before the Earth could stabilize.
    • This ultimately led John Constantine and The Flash to travel back in time to when Darkseid was an infant in order to kill him to avoid the impending destruction. While Flash couldn’t do it, Constantine cast a spell on him that would make Flash poisonous to anyone who came close to him, causing numorous parademons to die and eventually, an infant Darkseid.
      • His death unknowingly created the multiverse and a new franchise, the Tomorrowverse, where new heroes and villains were born from this action. However, because a multiverse was too much for reality too handle, Anti-Monitors were created to wipe out every universe, which resulted in the deaths of trillions of people and the destruction of every Earth, because Darkseid was so necessary to the universe and until the heroes decided to create one Earth to resolve the issue.

Trivia[]

  • Despite the many adaptations of Darkseid being Pure Evil, many viewers view this one to be the most evil of them all due to his crimes in Apokolips War, even then he is undeniably Pure Evil in the other films also.
  • He is shown to be so evil and despicable in Apokolips War, that the climax actually makes viewers root for Trigon in their battle. John Constantine even forces The Flash to travel back in time to when Darkseid was a baby to kill him, which he almost does until he relents, but since Constantine placed a dark spell on him, the baby Darkseid dies from just being near him, which really says something about how unlikable this Darkseid truly is.
  • Darkseid is the one of the three villains of the DC Animated Movie Universe to be Pure Evil, along with Professor Zoom and Talia al Ghul.
