Damon Killian is the main antagonist in the 1987 film The Running Man. He serves as the host for the Running Man game show.
He was portrayed by the late Richard Dawson. Originally game show host Chuck Woolery was considered for the role due to his similar stature to Arnold Schwarzenegger, but Woolery was unavailable and Dawson was cast at the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Forged evidence about the runners being criminals when the real criminals are, in fact, the stalkers.
- Extorted Ben Richards into being a runner by threatening to have his friends Laughlin and Weiss take his place. After Richards agrees, Killian makes Laughlin and Weiss runners anyway.
- Forces the completely innocent Amber Mendez to participate in the "game" after she find out the truth in the hope she would die before she could tell anyone, and slanders her with some made up crimes.
- Lied about yesteryear's winners getting a vacation to a luxurious resort when they are, in fact, dead.
- Offered Richards an opportunity to become a stalker, which the latter refuses.
- Used CGI to fake Ben Richards' death.
- Manipulated the entire population of the United States into believing that Killian is "a good guy" to hide the government's corruption, until Richards sees through his deception.
- Had his guards shoot at the audience after Richards and the resistance reveal his crimes to the world.
- Hired stalkers to murder the runners in gruesome ways.
- Attempted to justify his reason of hosting the Running Man show as "for ratings" because "people love television", when in fact, he's only doing this out of greed.
- Exaggerated or fabricated the crimes of his murder victims just to increase the Running Man show's ratings.
- Although he wasn't the one to frame Ben Richards for mass murder, he repeated and knowingly spread the lies for the sake of propaganda.
- All in all, his method of hosting the Running Man show is only to show his sadism.
