Andre Deschaine, also known as D'Spayre, is the main antagonist of Season 2 of the TV series Marvel's Cloak & Dagger.
He is a former jazz musician who, after gaining powers from the Roxxon Gulf Platform's explosion, became a sex trafficker and fed on his victims' despair to become a god in order to relieve himself of his migraines.
He was portrayed by Brooklyn McLinn.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He started a support group specializing in aiding victims of abuse, which he then used as a front for a sex trafficking ring in New Orleans. He would feed off of people's despair through initial physical contact and would force any women into his ring who he claimed was "beyond saving".
- He would use his powers to force his victims to experience their own personal despairs, all so he could stop his own migraines without regard for said victims' well-being.
- He used his powers to enslave Dagger into his trafficking ring. He also utilized them to manipulate Cloak into thinking she had given up on him.
- He met with Chantelle Fusilier to explain to him how he could become a Loa as a permanent solution, and then used his powers to kill her after he saw her as a threat.
- He used Lia Dewan, his right-hand woman, as a main source to stop his migraines. He began to constantly drain her to unconsciousness when Mayhem found his record collection of despairs in his dimension and destroyed them. Afterwards, he ditched her on the side of the road and left her to die.
- He kidnapped countless people with his powers and kept them in a trance while he played a blue note and fed off of their despair to become a Loa.
- After becoming a Loa and no longer needed his physical body, Andre (now as D'Spayre) constantly played his trumpet in his dimension and abducted thousands of people from New Orleans, placing them in a trance as his audience while he fed off of their despair and no longer had his migraines.
- When Cloak and Dagger confronted him, he split them up and used their fears and painful memories to psychologically torment them so he could feed off of them as well.
- He ultimately had no genuine excuse for his actions other than his own selfish need to use other people's pain to alleviate his own.
- Although the hideous standards are tremendously high in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he manages to stand out with possessing few resources.
