~ Cyrus entering his "new perfect world" and last words. |
Cyrus (Japanese: アカギ Akagi) is the main antagonist of the Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl anime series and the overarching antagonist of the 2022 film Pokemon: The Arceus Chronicles. He appears in the Pokémon anime as a rich businessman who owns many libraries in Sinnoh and is later revealed to be the leader of Team Galactic.
He is voiced by Kenta Miyake in the original Japanese version and Sean Schemmel in the English dub, the latter also voiced Grings Kodai in the same franchise, Makuta Teridax in Bionicle: The Game, Conrad in Berserk, Black Doom in Shadow the Hedgehog, Goku Black in Dragon Ball Super, and Skonk in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Unlike his video game counterpart, he is more evil and much more heartless and lacks his video game counterpart's affability or Freudian Excuse.
- While he claims he wants to create a world without war or conflict, this goal is never played sympathetically as it would destroy the existing world and everyone in it, and he is more focused on ruling his new world as a god.
- He betrays Professor Carolina after disguising himself as a seemingly genial businessman in order for Team Galactic to steal the Lustrous Orb.
- He sends Commander Mars to invade Iron Island, using equipment that drives the island's Pokémon into a hostile frenzy. When his plan fails, he orders Mars to blow up the entire island, which would kill everyone on it.
- He hires Hunter J (another Pure Evil) to capture the Lake Guardians, and expresses absolutely no concern when Mesprit and Uxie kill her with their "Future Sight" attack.
- He summons Dialga and Palkia before having Charon bring them under his control with the Red Chains.
- He attempts to destroy the universe and remake it in his own image.
- He betrays his subordinates and decides to leave them to die, saying the new world is for him alone.
Trivia[]
- His portrayal in the anime may have been a result of the writers misinterpreting his goal in the video games, as him telling the player that he seeks a new world only for his benefit appears to have been misunderstood to mean he wanted a new world for only him to exist in.
