Comte de Vaublanc is a supporting antagonist in Castlevania: Nocturne. He is an elitist vampire who once ruled the French colony of Saint-Dominigue in the Carribean. He was the ruthless owner of the slave plantation there before he was forced to flee to Europe by the Haitian Rebellion, which lead to him joining the cult of Erzsebet Bathory in the hope that she will restore the world to its "natural order" of slavery. He is the archenemy of Annette.
He is voiced by Alastair Duncan and Ryƫnosuke Karasawa in the Japanese Dub.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He ruled over a slave plantation on Saint Domingue, where the blacks enslaved there were forced to work all day harvesting spice from the fields, with his men constantly patrolling on horseback threatening to whip anyone that doesn't work hard enough. Even children like Annette are forced to work in these horrific conditions.
- In the event that a slave tries to escape the plantation, he has them branded on the first attempt, the second time they get hamstrung and on the third offense are killed by being hunted down by Vaublancs dogs and ripped apart. Annette has one such brand on the back of her hand from her time on the plantation.
- When he realized that one of his slaves, Esther, had been performing mystical Vodun rituals and carving magic symbols throughout her house, he dragged her outside and snapped her neck in full view of her daughter Annette, who was a little girl at the time and was severely traumatized by the event.
- He tried to have Annette branded for trying to escape. When she awakens her powers and knocks the brand away, he sadistically tells Annette to run for her life as he sics his hounds on her and hunts her down with the intention of killing her.
- Although he briefly paused his hunt for Annette when Eduard told him to leave for disturbing his theater performance, it was only to avoid drawing unwanted attention from the human audience.
- Tries to kill Annette and Eduard when they confront him during the Haiti Rebellion.
- After being driven away from Saint-Domingue, he joins the cult of Erzsebet Bathory and joins her conquest of France in order to preserve the "natural order" of slavery.
- To this end, he works alongside the Marquis and the aristocracy of Maschoul to drink the blood of and kill large numbers of the city's common folk. After amassing enough bodies for the night, they would take the corpses to Abbot Emmanuel, who would use a machine summoned from Hell to transform the corpses into Night Creatures with the intention of building an army of them to destroy the French Revolution and conquer the country.
- The first horde of these Night Creatures would be unleashed on a Townsquare to slaughter a rally of revolutionaries.

After amassing enough bodies for the night, they would take the corpses to Abbot Emmanuel, who would use a machine summoned from Hell to transform the corpses into Night Creatures with the intention of building an army of them to destroy the French Revolution and conquer the country.
- He attempts to drink the blood of a defenseless street urchin and is only stopped by Annette.
- He tries to kill Annette in revenge for his defeat at Saint-Domingue, admitting during their fight that he'd been tempted to kill her when she was a baby because he found her crying annoying and her appearance revolting, showing he had hated her since the day of her birth.
- When he gets trapped by crosses with the sun rising over the horizon, he spends his last few minutes of life to mock Annette and break her psychologically, gloating about killing her mother and for her lifetime as a slave, while also expressing his belief that her efforts to defeat Erzsebet would be in vain, and that the vampire messiah would destroy everything and everyone she loved.
- Despite claiming to be loyal to Erzsebet, his loyalty is largely fanatical and opportunistic, as he sees her as the key to preserving the status quo of slavery and followed her due to her power, similar to the Marquis.
- Unlike most other vampires, he has no standards or humanizing traits, being a sadistic supremacist who sees himself as having the right to enslave others. He also doesn't have any comedic moments, being treated completely seriously throughout his screentime; even most vampires have moments of being witty (although mainly of a darkly comedic nature).
- Despite Castlevania's high heinous standard, he stands out by having the unique crime of running a slave plantation and for aiding in the creation of Erzsebets Night Creature horde, as well as his personal villainy towards Annette.
