~ de Sade torturing a soaked Punisher with an electric shock-prod. |
Colonel de Sade is a two-shot antagonist who appears in Marvel Comics' The Punisher Summer Special. He is known mostly due to his grotesque penchant for torturing women, and the Punisher outright believes him to be the descendant of Marquis himself.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Before his debut, he was discharged from the military and then institutionalized for skinning a woman alive in the Vietnam War.
- While robbing a bank, he traumatizes a female hostage and makes her faint by cutting her hair with a knife. He then states his intent to start cutting her face next, but thankfully the cops arrived and forced him to retreat before he could do so.
- He tortures the Punisher with water and electricity.
- While escaping prison, he quickly kills a guard on camera with his dual whips.
- He owns a private snuff-filming business, kidnapping countless women set up as exotic dancers before torturing them to death on camera for his amusement.
- He even puts his own assistant/girlfriend Alison in one of the films when he runs out of extras, crushing her flat with a storage container. This shows that not even loved ones are safe from de Sade's cruelty.
- He does nothing to help a henchman who gets a knife thrown at his chest by the Punisher, instead telling him to scream for the camera.
- When the Punisher attacks his private movie studio, de Sade puts two of the kidnapped women in deathtraps for distractions, trying to run over one with a slowly-moving train and drown another in grain.
- Overall, while Earth-616's heinous standard is undoubtedly quite high, de Sade stands out due to living up to his namesake as a a nihilist whose only care in life is torturing women for his own sick kicks, and he even enjoys his own pain as he's shown getting off whenever the Punisher hurts him during their encounters. Also, snuff films are pretty unique for Marvel Comics standards.
