Colonel Ives is the main antagonist of the 1999 western horror film Ravenous. He is a cannibalistic murderer in the Civil War era who eats the bodies of his victims to gain possession of their souls; it is also suggested that he may be the demonic Wendigo in human form.
He was portrayed by Robert Carlyle.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- It is suggested that he is the Wendigo in human form.
- He murders and cannibalizes an Indigenous shaman.
- He poses as a colonel in the Union Army to gain access to his victims.
- He kills and eats an entire regiment of soldiers.
- He lies to Captain John Boyd about having been attacked and nearly eaten by a cannibal.
- He tricks Boyd's regiment into exploring a cave so he can kill them one by one.
- He tries to manipulate Boyd into becoming a cannibal as well.
- He kills two horses and one man.
- He forces Colonel Hart to eat the man's flesh.
- He mortally wounds Boyd.
- He makes Boyd eat human flesh.
- As he dies, he taunts Boyd by saying he will eventually eat him to stay alive; it is left unanswered whether Boyd does so.
