Senator Charles Francis Meachum is the main antagonist of the 2007 action film Shooter.
He is the corrupt Senator of Montana who is responsible for a massacre in Eritrea in order to protect his business interests.
He was portrayed by the late Ned Beatty, who also voiced Lots-o'-Huggin' Bear in Toy Story 3 and Tortoise John in Rango.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Ordered a team led by Colonel Johnson to massacre 400 Eritrean villagers in order to make way for his oil pipeline.
- Ordered the assassination of the Archbishop of Ethiopia in order to prevent him from telling the President about the massacre.
- Frames Bob Lee Swagger for the Archbishop's murder to get him out of the way.
- Attempts to have Swagger and Agent Memphis killed to cover up his involvement in the Archbishop's murder.
- He was responsible for the abduction of Swagger's girlfriend Sarah to make him stop investigating.
- Likely ordered the murder of Officer Timmons in order to tie up loose ends.
- After his release, Meachum begins plans for a new job in which Johnson will once again massacre civilians who oppose his business interests, this time in Ecuador.
- His relationship with Johnson is purely professional and he clearly doesn't care about him, as when Johnson is killed right in front of him, he shows no care about his death whatsoever.
