Charles Baskerville is a minor antagonist in the 2016 manga series, Moriarty the Patriot. He serves as the main antagonist in the The Hunting of the Baskervilles arc.

He is a sadistic, reviled aristocrat who takes sadistic delight in not just hunting commoners but mainly children he had abducted from the slums in his hunting grounds on Dartmoor alongside his colleagues. He has a habit of collecting his past victims' heads to expand a collection of them, skulls and skeletons as well, as a means of offering them to God as claimed. His cruel, vile actions caught the attention of William James Moriarty and company.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • He had a habit of hunting children for amusement and sport, monthly abducting around 5-6 children from the slums of London by a fake magician and having them hunted and tortured by his fellow colleagues. The children are met with being hunted, burned to death, whipped while naked, and have their limbs brutally mutilated by a hacksaw.
  • He goes about decapitating children and collecting their heads to be put in jars, even piling up what seems to be their skulls, in a room as an "offer to God". Considering his monthly hunting of children, there are at least hundreds of skulls, followed by dozens of heads in jars, implying he's been doing this for a year or more.
  • On another monthly abduction, he had one of his colleagues mutilate a boy in front of the rest of the kidnapped children.
  • He forced an older brother to gouge his own eye out with the promise of allowing his younger sister to leave, and once he did, he added his eyeball to his collection. Eventually, he never made such a promise to begin with as he decapitated both the brother and later the sister out of spite.
  • During his next (and last) abduction, he tried to kill a pair of sisters while gloating about his previous killings and his "servitude to God".
  • His partnership with his colleagues is never explored enough but it is assumed they worked together superficially and out of mutual interest in hunting and killing children.
  • Despite claiming his vile deeds are under "services to God", it's is vividly clear these are self-righteous delusions to justify him cruelly hunting down children as animals out of sheer sadism.
  • Despite appearing for two chapters, Baskerville stands out for having one of the highest kill counts in the series and his personal cruelties.

Trivia[]

  • He is one of the only Moriarty the Patriot Pure Evils to never appear in the anime adaptation, likely due to his vile nature and crimes being too graphic.
