“ | Together, we've done it. We've conquered this world again. We've reached the absolute. 327. That's how many routes it took for something to change. For this world to transform. | „ |
~ Chara revealing how many Genocide Routes happened. |
“ | I realized the potential of your SOULs. I no longer wanted to move on to the next world. I wanted to stay right here, gathering souls. I grew to love this world. When you quit, I began. I took control of your body. And kept completing routes. I gained more than anybody can imagine. I completed some routes in mere minutes. In others, I even exceeded LV 20. I created weapons more powerful than the Real Knife. | „ |
~ Chara explaining how they became power-hungry. |
Chara, also known as The Fallen Human is the main antagonist of the Undertale AU Dusttale and its fangame of the same name, as well as the overarching antagonist of the epilogue comic.
Now lusting for power, Chara took full control over Frisk's body, repeating the genocide route to only gain more power and to see if anything would change. Their actions are indirectly responsible for Sans' fall into insanity, and why he went on his own genocide route.
What Makes Them Pure Evil?[]
- While the original Chara has ambiguous intentions (to the point where they are debatably not even evil), the Dusttale version of Chara, while originally the same, began to see themself as a god once they absorbed nine SOULs and became power-hungry and sadistic, shedding any ambiguity or redeeming qualities they once had.
- While Frisk did the first few Genocide Routes on their own accord with Chara wanting the killing to stop and for them to choose a different path, after gaining awareness they possessed Frisk's body to commit more genocides by their own choice.
- Completed 327 Genocide Routes by killing most of the monsters in the Underground before resetting the world to complete another without any problems, completely indifferent to the monsters' lives and even said that they could complete a route in mere minutes.
- Their repeated genocides drove Sans insane due to him regaining memories of reset timelines, forcing him to commit genocides of his own in order to gain power so would may be able to defeat Chara. Thus, Chara's actions are responsible for Sans' kill-count as well.
- Saw Sans as competition, and enjoyed tormenting him, knowing that he felt reluctance and pain towards killing his loved ones repeatedly.
- Upon killing Sans in the bad ending, they tell Frisk about how much they enjoy toying with the world and gathering more SOULs, before resetting the world once more so they could start again with another genocide route.
- They admitted to Frisk that they will forget their memories when the world gets reset, yet wanting to continue being evil and obtain more power despite this, while also expressing how they enjoy making Sans suffer.
- When Frisk refuses to attack Sans in the good ending, Chara leaves their body and attempts to kill him themself, only for Frisk to take the blow for him.
- In the epilogue comic that takes place three years after the events of the game, their actions are shown to still haunt Sans to a great degree, as he confessed what he did to Papyrus out of guilt.
- They are the only villain in the AU to be completely irredeemable, as achieving the criteria to get the good ending will redeem both Frisk and Sans by destroying Chara and making them live in peace, while Chara remains evil as they know they can just reset the timeline with indifference.
