Chakal is the main antagonist of the 2014 computer-animated fantasy film The Book of Life.
He is the wicked, ruthless, violent, cruel, greedy, selfish and malevolent king of the bandits who was feared by everyone. and wants to retrieve a powerful medal known as the Medal of Everlasting Life in order to become invincible.
He was voiced by Dan Navarro.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Desiring for power, he stole the Medal of Everlasting Life from Xibalba and rose up to power to become the Bandit King.
- He took sadistic pleasure in raiding and terrorizing all of Mexico, including the people of San Angel, robbing the town of its wealth, such as chickens, gold and jewelry.
- During his battle with Captain Mondragon, he mercilessly killed him, leaving his son Joaquin fatherless.
- Years after Xibalba took the medal back, Chakal sought to regain the medal and become the invincible warlord he once was again.
- Send his men to pillage San Angel, threatening the inhabitants that they'll burn the village to the ground if his demands aren't met.
- After he discovered that Joaquin is the current owner of the medal, he leads his forces to destroy San Angel in order to regain the medal.
- After Manolo’s father, Carlos Sanchez stood in his way, he states that he hates bullfighters and fights Carlos until he eventually killed him.
- He marches to the town church where he confronts Joaquin, easily beats him after he lost the medal and then regains the medal until the now-revived Manolo and his ancestors arrived to help Maria, Joaquin and the townsfolk fight back.
- In a desperate move, he kidnaps Maria and threatens Manolo and Joaquin that he will kill her if they don’t give him the medal.
- Rather than accepting defeat, he decides to blow himself up, taking the entire town with him, until Manolo attempted to sacrifice himself, but thanks to Joaquin putting the medal on him, he was saved and only Chakal was killed, thus ending his threat.
