~ Cesare to his father moments before murdering him. |
Cesare Borgia (or Cesár Borgia) is a major antagonist of the Assassin's Creed franchise and the secondary antagonist of the Renaissance Saga. He is the main antagonist of the 2010 video game Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and the protagonist villain of the short movie Assassin's Creed: Ascendance.
He was the illegitimate son of Rodrigo Borgia and the second archenemy of the master Assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Like his father, he was a member of the Templar Order. Eventually, he became Captain General of the Papal Armies, though he secretly plotted against his father to take over Rome and all of Italy afterward. Following his father's failure, he took over as the new grandmaster of the Templar Order.
He was voiced by Andreas Apergis.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He killed his brother Giovanni at the age of 17 out of envy.
- He forced Leonardo da Vinci to build war machines to conquer regions of Italy.
- He attacked Monteriggioni, killing many innocents, after telling his father and killing Ezio's uncle Mario, and all this just to invite him to battle with him in Rome.
- He ruled Rome with an iron fist for several years, oppressing its inhabitants and allowing his guards to mistreat them.
- When he returned from the battle, he showed no sadness, surprise, or concern for his banker Juan Borgia (who was also his brother) or General Octavian de Valois when he found out they were dead.
- Enabled Il Carnefice to commit several brutal executions and tortures as long as he got his enemies executed in the process, unbeknownst to him, Carnefice couldn't even read his list of enemies and was just executing whoever he wanted behind his back.
- After learning from his sister Lucrezia that his father, Rodrigo, had poisoned the apple he had eaten, he stuffed the apple into his father's mouth, killing him. Although it was somewhat justified, Rodrigo tried to kill his son due to the fact that he destroyed Ezio's estate, forcing him to re-enter the war on the Borgia family. Thus, indirectly, through the fault of Cesare, the Borgia empire began to collapse, also upsetting the "balance of power." Thus, an attempt at poisoning was justified, but Cesare did not care.
- Ordered his troops to kill the cardinals after they had elected a new Pope and ordered Cesar to vacate the post of the captain-general.
- Using his remaining and betrayed soldiers, he tried to recapture Rome again for himself.
- Kills his right hand Micheletto Corella when he freed him (Cesare), simply because Corella let him down, and in the end, Corella attacked his former master in a rage, but Cesare took the gun and killed him, revealing that Cesare never cared about Corella and only saw him as a pawn.
- Having convinced his stat cousin at the head of the army, he should attack Viana in Spain to reclaim glory and Rome without worrying about the number of victims killed.
- Before he dies, he brags to Ezio that no one can kill him, and at the same time, he does not regret his terrible crimes.
- Although at first glance, he seems like he has one redeeming quality: his love for his sister, but this is actually nonsense. When Lucrezia tells Cesare that Rodrigo is trying to kill him, after killing him, Cesare thanks her and immediately begins to choke her severely, demanding to tell him where the apple of Eden is, and after she speaks, she asks him if he ever loved her. Cesare just says that she is his sister and nothing more, showing that even his sister is regarded as an object.
