~ Caulder's most famous quote. |
Caulder (Stolos in the European version) is the main antagonist in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (or Dark Conflict in Europe).
He is a scientist and the head of Intelligence Defense Systems (IDS), a private military company specialized in making deadly weapons. Completely devoid of morals, he devotes his life to conducting horrible and unethical experiments on human beings to satisfy his endless scientific curiosity, a motive for which he was banished from the scientific community. The meteor strike gave him the opportunity to do all the research he wanted, including spreading a deadly virus, the Creeping Derangea, and using weapons of mass destruction to see their effects on humans.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Even before the events of the game, he was renowned for conducting unlawful experiments.
- He created clones of himself and used them to harvest organs and reach immortality. The clones suffered from it, as proven by the fact that they rebelled against him.
- The Caulder that the protagonists face during the game is actually the only surviving clone, who killed the real Caulder.
- He created childlike copies of himself and used them as weapons that could be easily replaced.
- He has a virus of his own creation, the Creeping Derangea, spread among the survivors. It causes flowers to bloom on the bodies of the sick and painfully kill them. He later improves his virus so that it can target children and adults alike. Once again, he only does this out of scientific curiosity.
- He gives drugs to the Beast to make him stronger and have him kill Brenner and his forces, simply out of scientific curiosity.
- Following the Beast’s defeat, he leaves him to die from the medicine’s side effects.
- He supplies the Lazurian Army with weapons, fueling the conflict against Rubinelle. He also proposes destructive weapons to General Forsythe to see their effects in battle.
- After Forsythe’s refusal to use his weapons of mass destruction in battle, Caulder offered them to Admiral Greyfield, the leader of the New Rubinelle Army. This resulted in Brenner’s demise.
- It also shows that Caulder does not care about who wins the war, as he is only interested in the effects of weapons on human beings.
- He uses the 12th Battalion to try one of his weapons, the Talon Gun.
- He offers Greyfield the Caulder Missile, a weapon of mass destruction that Greyfield plans to use on the 12th Battalion.
- After Greyfield’s defeat, Caulder leaves him to die to Lin.
- He continues to use the 12th Battalion as test subjects, submitting them to his Great Owl, a huge and destructive bomber.
- He cold-bloodedly tells Isabella that she is useless to him and that she is not a person but a mere clone, intending for her to stay onboard the Great Owl.
- After Isabella goes to him under the Mayor’s pressure, he offers medicine to the Mayor before telling him that he lied and that the thing he gave him is not a cure at all, leaving him to die from the Creeping Derangea.
- He asks Penny to make the Great Owl crash down with the 12th Battalion, Isabella and Penny herself on board, showing that he does not care for his “daughters”.
- He has his “son” Cyrus killed by ingesting a poison as punishment for betraying him and helping Will save Isabella.
- After Tabitha’s defeat, he calls all of his “children” failures.
- During the final battle against the 12th Battalion, he mocks Will for valuing life, stating that society’s morals are useless and are only an obstacle to his scientific curiosity.
- On the verge of death, he screams for help and says that he doesn’t want to die, showing that he is also a hypocrite.
