Here comes "Spoletta". Right on cue. La comedia e finita. "Scarpia" dies, you arrest me. That's how this ends. (Morse: Not if I rewrite it.) Then you'd better be quick!
~ The Opera Phantom to Morse as he prepared to murder Thursday in the style of Puccini's Tosca.

A homage is a type of character that pays respect to other works in a serious manner. This is the opposite of a parody, that does the exact thing in a funny manner. Example: Cars 2's Sir Miles Axlerod is a homage to 007 villains, Grim Heart is a homage to the Queen of Hearts, John Godolkin is a homage to Charles Xavier, Overmind is a homage to many AI villains from pop-culture, and The Hunter is a homage to The Huntsman from Little Red Riding Hood.

In some cases, the homage can be even worse than the character they pay respect to.
