False lovers are characters who are either in a relationship or who seek a relationship with another character, but who do not genuinely love said character or secretly hate them. As Pure Evils always lack redeeming qualities, they can never be in true love. If a Pure Evil appears to be in love with another character, they are either only faking their love (typically for manipulation or personal gain), or their "love" is out of obsession, egotism, and/or lust.
Good examples of characters in this category are Angelus with Darla and Warren Mears with Amy Madison neither of whom actually loved their companions but did get along with and show mild affection towards them due to their similar personalities and literal connections to them.
It is possible for a Pure Evil to have been truly in love at one point, but they must eventually subvert this love by having their love degenerate into one of the above examples. Alan Yates, Luke Lerner, Jill Roberts, Ego, and Ragyo Kiryuin are examples of this.
In very rare cases, a sadomasochist Pure Evil can sincerely feel love towards someone. But in this case, they will use this capacity to love for masochistic purposes by hurting their partners and therefore them by extensions, which makes their love non-redemptive. This is the case of Junko Enoshima or Isaac Ray Peram Westcott by exemple.
It is also possible for both ends of the stick to fake love. Good examples of this are Dr. Nefarious Tropy and his female counterpart.
They are a darker counterpart of In Love Villains, and the polar opposite of In Love Pure Goods. Subcategories of this category include Black Widows, Hero's Lover, Love Rivals, and Lover Stealers.
