“ | It’s so easy to get the best of people when they care about each other. Which is why evil will always have the edge. You good guys are always so bound by the rules. You see, I kill my own men. | „ |
~ Casanova Frankenstein's most famous speech. |
Casanova Frankenstein is the main antagonist of the 1999 live-action superhero comedy film Mystery Men.
He is a sadistic, criminal mastermind from the past who returns to destroy all of Champion City in the most painful way possible. He is archenemy of Captain Amazing.
He was portrayed by Geoffrey Rush.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He faked remorse for his crimes at the asylum hearing and after they decide to release him, he blows up the asylum and kills everyone in it on his first day of freedom.
- His ultimate goal was to destroy Champion City using his new superweapon, the Psycho-frakulator to bend reality inside out just for the sake of being evil.
- He kidnapped Captain Amazing and bound him up under the Psycho-frakulator and despite the Mystery Men's efforts, the Psycho-frakulator ultimately horrifically killed Captain Amazing in the most disturbing scene in the film.
- While Captain Amazing is a hate sink, Casanova was only killing him to get rid of Champion City's protector, which is even worse considering that he knows Captain Amazing was the one who released him yet decided to horrifically murder him anyway.
- He kidnaps Mr. Furious' girlfriend with lewd intentions and threatens to kill her to force the Mystery Men to stand down.
- He sadistically electrocutes two of his own men just for the sake of being evil to brag that he doesn't care about anyone which is why evil would supposedly always have the edge.
- While he did have a girlfriend at the start of the film, Anabel Leek there wasn't any evidence that he genuinely cared about her and considering she mysteriously disappears halfway into the film and Casanova moves on to preying on Mr. Furious' girlfriend and bragging that he doesn't care about anyone, it's safe to say he didn't genuinely care about his original girlfriend.
- This is confirmed in the script which revealed a deleted scene in which Casanova killed Leek by tossing her out of a window upon growing tired of her. The scene was cut due to schedule complications with Leek's actress, though it made it into the comic adaptation. [1]
