| NOTE: This article only covers the symbiote and excludes Cletus Kasady, as only the symbiote was voted Pure Evil. Thus, this article should only cover the symbiote aspect of Carnage, rather than his host. |

The Carnage Symbiote is one of the two titular main antagonists (alongside Cletus Kasady) of the 2021 superhero film Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
He is a highly destructive and homicidal symbiote, who bonds with the infamous serial killer, Cletus Kasady, to unleash carnage upon San Francisco. He is also the spawn/son and the second archenemy of Venom.
He was voiced by Woody Harrelson.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He was cruel and destructive from the moment when he was born, sadistically killing humans for fun rather than sustenance, and wanting to be the only symbiote on Earth due to his hatred towards his own father Venom.
- He bonded with Cletus Kasady to escape execution, not out of a genuine desire to save his life but to use him in his goal. While he acted friendly with Cletus and helped him rescue his girlfriend Shriek, he was only using Cletus for his own goal to kill his own father Venom, so that he would be the only symbiote on Earth and become unstoppable. Even when Cletus wants nothing to do with him, Carnage insists on staying put.
- He went on a massacre in the San Quentin prison, killing at least dozens of guards as well as devouring the warden whole and carelessly freeing all the other inmates making him directly responsible for the crimes they'll inevitably commit.
- When one guard begged for mercy, he brutally murdered the latter by shoving his tongue down his throat until he died.
- He went on a murderous rampage, killing civilians in San Francisco (such as a homeless man to help Cletus get some clothes). Through dialogue, it is made clear that all of San Francisco would be at risk being of slaughtered by Carnage.
- He launched a random car into the ocean, killing the driver and presumably anyone else that was inside.
- Alongside Cletus, he slaughtered the entire staff of the Ravencroft Institute to free Shriek and the authorities who arrived to rightfully stop them as they were escaping Ravencroft.
- He hated Shriek's sonic screams due to affecting his body, and threatened to kill her if she did it again to use her as leverage against Cletus.
- He kidnapped Anne Weying and Patrick Mulligan to act as "witnesses" for Cletus and Shriek's wedding and lure Eddie Brock/Venom to kill them. Despite seeming altruistic towards Cletus at first, he killed the priest officiating the wedding by eating his head to gain a boost in power.
- He nearly killed Dan after he saved Venom.
- He attempted to make Eddie and Venom watch Anne die.
- After getting tired of Shriek's presence, he tried to kill her against Cletus' wishes and forced Cletus to stay bonded with him as stated prior.
- He tortured Venom by stabbing him repeatedly with his tendrils until he nearly died.
- He left a piece of himself inside Patrick Mulligan, that became a new symbiote which left Patrick and is still out there, meaning he could return and torment the now Venom-less Eddie, meaning Carnage's legacy lives on.
- His actions, alongside Cletus and Shriek, led to Eddie and Venom becoming fugitives and being framed for Mulligan's supposed murder. Forcing them to leave San Francisco and their friends, while also being hunted by the Imperium and the military, leading to Venom's self-sacrifice to stop Knull from escaping and slicing into more planets.
- While having to compete with Carlton Drake and Riot, who wanted to commit genocide on humanity, and Cletus, who had a higher kill count, and Knull, who sliced many worlds and threatened to burn everyone and make Eddie watch, he stood out due to only just being created during the film's story yet being able to commit mass murder and destruction with the few resources and days that he has (whereas Knull is older than the universe), even managing to have a higher onscreen kill count than the former three and being more personally cruel to the heroes than either of the three. Hence he is sufficiently heinous by the standards of the Venom trilogy.
- Unlike Raimiverse's Green Goblin, he didn't have to compete with the Heinous Standards of the MCU multiverse, such as Red Skull, High Evolutionary, Dormammu, Thanos, Ego, Arnim Zola, etc, due to dying at the end of his film while never crossing over to the MCU universe allowing him to stand out.
- Although most of his crimes are shared with Cletus due to bonding with him, Cletus was capable of love and freely gave it to Shriek, he had a minor Freudian Excuse, and he had a couple of moral standards; while Carnage lacked standards and the ability to love anyone and any excuse whatsoever for his villainy. This is to the point where even Cletus was horrified towards (and fell victim to) Carnage's extreme cruelty.
- While Eddie at least showed Cletus sympathy before the latter's death, Venom said that Carnage didn’t taste good when he ate him, proving that even his own father is also horrified about what Carnage did and showing that he deserved to die for his heinous crimes.
Trivia[]
- This is the only incarnation of Carnage where only the Carnage Symbiote counts as Pure Evil, but Cletus Kasady did not due to the latter's counterpart in this version being more sympathetic and having redeeming qualities.
- The Carnage Symbiote is the fifth Pure Evil villain to appear in a Spider-Man film, following Venom, Carlton Drake/Riot, and Mysterio.
- In a concept art animatic, the prison break was meant to be much more unpleasant and would have given the movie an R rating, as Carnage & Cletus immediately after bonding they go on a rampage only this time they target not just guards and the warden, but prisoners too and infect everyone and in extremely brutal ways too as one prisoner took a saw to his face and some guards got ripped in half, and last but not least, Carnage instead of eating the Warden's head off, stuffs it's tongue down the Wardens throat, ripping his flesh on the inside with spikes and making him explode from the inside. If this had stayed in, it would have made him even worse.
