Burke is the main antagonist of the 1981 neo-noir thriller film Blow Out. He is an assassin who is bent on trying to kill Sally Bedina after an assassination attempt gone wrong.
He was played by John Lithgow, who also portrayed Earl Talbot Blake in Ricochet, and Eric Qualen in Cliffhanger.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- He became a professional assassin who targeted and killed specific people in exchange for money.
- After being hired to only take some unflattering photos of rival candidate George McRyan with an escort named Sally, Burke decides to alter the plan and kill both McRyan and Sally by causing their car to crash into a lake.
- When Sally survives the accident, Burke plans to kill her by becoming serial killer who targets women who looks like her
- During his plan, he strangles several women to death with piano wire, becoming the Liberty Bell Strangler.
- He erases all of Jack's audio tapes that record the accident to make everyone think he's crazy.
- Even when his associate disowns him, Burke continues to act on his own, bugging Jack's phone.
- He calls Sally, posing as Donahue, and asks her to meet him and show him the film of the accident.
- Burke then kidnaps Sally and takes to a rooftop overlooking an Independence Day parade and destroys the tape of the assassination.
- Burke then finally kills Sally before his death at Jack's hands, who is devastated by Sally's death.
