Brimscythe, also known by his false alias General Krieg, is the opening antagonist of The Legend of Vox Machina, serving as the main antagonist of the two-part series premiere "The Terror of Tal'Dorei" and a posthumous antagonist in the second & third seasons.
He is a power hungry and dangerous blue dragon who sought to conquer the world and was the first threat Vox Machina encountered to defend the realm.
He was voiced by David Tennant, who also played Brendan Block in Secret Smile, Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Kilgrave in Marvel's Jessica Jones, Lord Commander in Final Space and Cale Erendreich in Bad Samaritan.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
In General[]
- Although the show is an action comedy, his actions are portrayed completely seriously and alter the tone of the story.
- Even after his death, he is indirectly responsible for all of the events for the rest of Season 1 as his actions have effected Tal’Dorei as a whole as they have partially lead to Sovereign Uriel abdicating the throne due to him believing that he has failed as a ruler.
- He is also responsible for why the Chroma Conclave attacking and destroying all of Emon, while also killing most of its citizens, as Brimscythe killed most of Emon's army and made the kingdom unable to defend itself from the other members of the Chroma Conclave.
- While Keyleth brings up the possibility that the Chroma Conclave attacked Emon out of revenge for Brimscythe's death, it's shown that Thordak had plans on creating an army using Emon as a giant nest, not to avenge Brimscythe. Additionally, most of the members of the Chroma Conclave (particularly Thordak and Raishan) are shown to not care for each other.
Seasons 1 & 2[]
- Prior to the events of the show, he murdered the real General Krieg and took his form so that he could be the Master of Law on the council.
- He brutally massacred countless mercenaries sent by the government of Tal’dorei to stop his rampage across the empire.
- He wiped out three villages, sparing no man, woman, or child, and razed miles of farmland with the ultimate goal of starving all of Tal’dorei to death.
- Using his guise as general of the army, he attempted to convince the rest of the Council of Tal’dorei and Sovereign Uriel to send in the army to deal with the beast, just so he could wipe them all out and destroy an undefended Tal’dorei.
- He only pretended to be nice to Vox Machina and champion them as General Krieg so he could lead them to their deaths in his true form, thinking they were merely a joke and needlessly crushed a sheep under his heel before quickly burying Vox Machina alive under rubble.
- He wiped out the entire village of Shale Steps, which leads to Vox Machina vowing to hunt him down and kill him.
- He rallied a squadron of troops as General Krieg and purposefully got their hopes up in thinking they could defeat the beast before proceeding to sadistically fry most of them alive as Brimscythe and subject others to equally brutal deaths, such as picking up two fleeing soldiers and dropping them to their deaths.
- He used his own massacre of the squadron of troops to convince Sovereign Uriel to allow him to send the army to confront Brimscythe, just so he could wipe them all out.
- He killed Councilor Finch in front of Vox Machina after he discovered his true identity and plan and revealed how his seeming politeness and championing of the team was a facade all along.
- He revealed his goal to end the age of man and conquer the world before transforming into Brimscythe and trying to kill Vox Machina once and for all.
