Brainiac is one of the main antagonists (alongside Lord Zedd) in the 2017 DC/Boom Studios! crossover comic, Justice League/Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
He is the respective archenemy of the Justice League and an artificial intelligence whose best known for collecting cities from other worlds while having them destroyed. He seeks knowledge throughout the universe and has teamed up with Zedd into collecting Angel Grove and destroy the Power Rangers' earth.
What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]
- Before the events, he already had a collection full of cities bottled in glass containers after destroying their respective planets. Given the collection counting onscreen, it's likely Brainiac at least killed billions in the process while imprisoning thousands to millions of lives into these bottles in his quest of seeking knowledge.
- Despite working with Zedd, they both cooperated due to sharing the same mutualism on conquering and destroying planets while not genuinely caring for one another. He even agreed to collect Angel Grove by Zedd, though for his benefit as he sees fit.
- When allowing Zedd to use his monsters to attack several countries, Brainiac had his drones steal the Power Coins and hack into the Zords.
- He shrunk Angel Grove and bottled it, which imprisoned the Rangers' friends and their parents, including Zack's mother and father as they couldn't be able to hear each other for one last time.
- Hacked and possessed Cyborg, forcing him to kill and fight his allies, which led to Billy piercing him in the process.
- He intends to "study" Alpha 5 before deciding to destroy him later. When questioning Alpha's sentience of choosing to do good, he dismissed it as "flawed and simple".
- He sent his drones to assist Zedd into bring about Earth's destruction further.
- When Superman tries to stop him, he overwhelms and tried to kill him using Kryptonite, his primary weakness.
- Even with his body destroyed, his consciousness would soon control his drones and the Zords as he continued wreaking havoc onto the Earth.
- He threatened Alpha 5 to hand over the growth bomb or he'll destroy him.
- Possessed Cyborg once more, only with intentions of mutilating him just to study his insides.
- He somehow hacked into Alpha 5 after his defeat, meaning he'll plot something to get back at the Rangers someday and gets off scot-free at the end of the story.
- Despite being an AI, Brainiac has moral agency due to having a twelfth-level intelligence where he is capable of right or wrong, even foreseeing any eventuality coming his way.
- Although his actions were to seek "knowledge", Alpha 5 pointed out that what he had done was entirely "selfish" and he only thought about himself, even to where he stated that putting cities in bottles and destroying the Rangers' Earth won't give him the knowledge he seeks.
