~ The Bogeyman while trying to murder Sadie Harper. |
The Boogeyman is the main antagonist of the 2023 psychological/supernatural horror film of the same name directed by Rob Savage and adapted from the short story of the same name featured in Stephen King's horror story collection Night Shift.
What Makes It Pure Evil?[]
- Despite it being more than capable of killing entire families, the Boogeyman instead prioritizes driving its victims insane before going in for the kill. It can be implicated that the Boogeyman derives sadistic pleasure from this.
- It specifically targets children. It killed all three of Lester Billing's children the youngest being a baby.
- It either drives Lester to suicide or kills him after terrorizing him for months.
- The Boogeyman tries to make Sadie appear insane in front of her peers including locking her inside the bathroom to further send her over the edge.
- It grabs Sawyer and savagely slams her into the television set.
- When Rita Billings appears to have killed it, the Boogeyman reawakens and rips her in half.
- It makes multiple attempts on the Harper children.
- Because the film is a separate continuity from King's novels and short stories, the Boogeyman easily meets the Heinous Standards.
