Bishop Ladja is the secondary antagonist of the JRPG Dragon Quest V. He is the priest of the cult Order of Zugzwang, which worshipped Grandmaster Nimzo, and is usually seen to be the one that carried out many dirty acts. While he seems to be the minion of King Koral, the leader of the cult, he is actually the right-hand of Nimzo.

He is voiced by Kōtarō Yoshida in the Japanese dub and Jason Marnocha for the English dub who also voiced the Demon King in The Seven Deadly Sins.

What Makes Him Pure Evil?[]

  • Even though the reasons to most of his actions were by Nimzo's orders and he didn't kill Luca as a baby, his actions are still past redemption.
  • He has Kon the Knight and Slon the Rook to brutally beat Pankraz up in front of the hero when he was a kid before incinerating Pankraz with a fireball.
  • He enslaved the hero and prince Harry to build Crocodilopolis when they were kids.
  • He demoted Maria to slave just because she realized the cruelty of the cult.
  • He turned the hero and his wife into stone statues.
  • He killed King Koral after he is no longer useful to Nimzo.
  • He kills the hero's mother, Mada right in front of him of maximum emotional impact.
  • While Nimzo refused to save Ladja when he dies, it's not played for sympathy.
