Judge Bergan is a major antagonist in Final Fantasy XII. He is a corrupt Judge Magister of the Archadian Empire.
He was voiced by Yōsuke Akimoto in the Japanese version, and by Gary Martin in the English version who also voiced Epideme in Red Dwarf.
Biography[]
Bergan is one of the five Judge Magisters of the Archadian Empire, and the vilest of the group given his obsession and pride for power alone. He only follows the orders of Vayne out of admiration for his ruthless desires, not because of his job to follow the law. After the reveal is made about Vayne killing his father to take the throne, Bergan is the only Judge to support him for his heinous crime, striking down Drace and is unmoved by her execution after calling Vayne out.
Later, Vayne sends the Judges to Mt. Bur-Omisace to retrieve Larsa, his younger brother, who was taking shelter from the war with other refugees. While the other Judges follow their orders and take Larsa home, Bergan has a different plan in mind...
What makes him Pure Evil[]
- He lacks the honorable and remorseful traits of the other Judges and even Vayne, only interested in his own ego.
- Supports Vayne for his desire of power, complimenting him for killing his father to claim the throne for himself.
- Beats up Drace when she accuses Vayne of patricide, ordering Gabranth to execute her for treason.
- Massacres the residents of Mt. Bur-Omisace and Gran Kilitias Anastasis just to practice his powers, lambasting their religious beliefs as well.
Trivia[]
- Bergan is the only Final Fantasy XII Pure Evil.
